What if ARTPOP would’ve been released in 2020?

Many people claim that ARTPOP was ahead of its time and criminally underrated (which is true), so if it was ahead of its time, how do you think it would perform in 2020/21? Would it be more/less successful?, what could’ve been changed in the management plan?

It would have been released after Joanne and ASIB I assume, so at this point I think it would do very well since the GP is completely on Gaga’s side again. Also I think it would be innovative and more understood. ARTPOP totally was ahead of it’s time.

Yes, it would debut at #1 and Nothing On (But the Radio) would be the lead single. Gaga would premiere it during Joe Bidan's speech in Pennsylvania and he'd appear as Gaga's love interest in the Do What You Want music video

It would've probably done better AND gotten better reviews because album success is often dictated by the artist's image and in 2013 we all know how the world felt about Gaga :triggered:

It already sounded dated in 2013 so imagine in 2020... nothing about this album was ahead of its time

That's a paradox question cause ARTPOP would be a hit now with her new team and "re-branding" but she wouldn't have gone through said "re-branding" and got a new team if it wasn't for ARTPOP

If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating.

I really don't see how it was "ahead of its time"... I think it's just a phrase fans throw around because it's such a subjective option. The DWYW 2000's r'n'b sound surely wasn't ahead if it's time, if anything it was ten years late... the Aura production that was already out as an instrumental? The Venus sample from 1966?

C'mon, let's be objective and realistic. It's a great album and a fan favorite, but nothing about it is ahead of its time. It under-performed because the promo was a huge mess, not because it was a misunderstood genius piece.

At that point, people were comparing ARTPOP to its predecessor BTW, so it was underwhelming in comparison (to many people).

But if it came out after Joanne, I think most people would have welcomed it. No shade to Joanne.

Get the pinot ready, because it's turtle time.
