LG5 shouldn't have been Joanne

I'm glad we got Joanne, and actually thought that was going to steer LG6's direction, especially after ASIB! Then we got Chromatica lmao

3 points in and ready for more

Claiming Joanne was for her father is something new she's on about. In Five Foot Two she is very passionate about it. It's a very personal album made on the heels of her exploration of country music writing and filming A Star Is Born. It's a brilliant album and it's who she was at the time. The idea it has no value because her father sucks is false.

In Five Foot Two, she makes journalists listen to Joanne so they can interview her afterwards, and one of them says something like "I get it, you made this album for your dad" and she seems happy that someone finally understands what she was trying to do.

how are we sure she was planning a dark album ? Genuine question.

All the info I had about the scrapped album (That I was SO excited for at the time)

Elton John heard it: Sounds like her old stuff, Bad romance / Bruce Springsteen vibes

Joanne was the palette cleanser we all needed but maybe some of us didn’t want. I love the album, still think about it and wanna consider it a masterpiece. It was an album that was inevitable if you look at her life and career while she was making it, just like how Chromatica feels inevitable now in retrospect.

Y’all really should be grateful that C2C and Joanne happened. I know the gays want dance pop, “dark” bops, and bussy bangers, but think for a minute how her career was completely revitalized when she went in a different direction. She never would have re-peaked if she hadn’t gone to other styles of music and stayed making music the gays wanted. When you look at it, her career has had a pretty great trajectory, even ARTPOP was necessary for the great things that happened afterwards. And while I’m not the biggest fan of Joanne, it was great to see the versatility and change of pace. This is why I stan her, because you never know what her next step will be. But whenever she strays from the usual “dark” dance pop sounds a lot of her fans trash it, instead of appreciating how versatile and chameleonic she is.

can't believe she changed it entirely from the goth/dark pop tfm part 2 aesthetic we were gonna get to Joanne, just to "fix" her Trump-supporting father:messga:

We endured that era just for papa Joe, and now he votes for trump. We lost an amazing original album because of a trump supporter.. smh!

This is a joke:zilla:(partially), Joanne was a good album and an experimental time; but holy f I really wish we still got the original LG5:air:

Joanne is perfect and her father is her father.

Joanne is one of the best Lady Gaga albums and with The Fame Monster and Born This Way her best album.

I remember her Golden Globes acceptance speech when she said she was really into darkness at that time. I was so excited cause I thought her new album would be like that. (love Joanne though)
