I'm hearing people say one of the people who voted Biden was born in 1823 meaning there was cheating going on. I tried searching it on Twitter and some are mentioning it but does anyone know where this came from?

It was from a 2019 lawsuit that has already been resolved

Honestly Joe Biden was not the right candidate in this moment. I fear he is simply too corny and old world politics to resonate and lead the country in an environment where we have just been polarized by the most...unconventional president in history. We had Marianne Williamson, Bernie Sanders, Andrew Yang, Tusli Gabbard and Elizabeth Warren earlier this year who each represented a strong, unique direction for the future of the Democratic Party. Even as a kid I remember thinking Biden was basically the white guy Barack Obama chose as his VP to appeal to racist whites who felt uncomfortable voting for a black man. Hopefully this is mostly a Biden/Harris administration as opposed to a Biden one, because Joe is definitely getting up their in age as our oldest president elect ever, following our previously oldest president elect. The Democratic Party is supposed to represent the working class, women, minorities, secular values, progressive policies and more, time to quit compromising and represent those things. Nominating Joe Biden to defeat Trump seems to have worked, but this strategy, if used again sure as hell won't.

Just some right wing nutcase writing some fiction. There’s going to be a lot of fictional claims being made up about “fraudulent voting” happening over the next few days. Feel free to ignore it unless a major reliable (e.g. Not Breitbart. Not Townhall) source starts taking the claim seriously.

To get an idea of who peddles bovine excrement and who is reliable about what they report, the Wikipedia has a good guideline:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WP:RS/P

If the source in question isn’t on this list, or if they are any color besides green on this list, feel free to ignore the claim. In the next few days to weeks, a lot of false information will be spread online, a lot of false rumors. Just ignore anything not reliably sourced.

How would they even get this info? Did they hack the ballot counting system? :bear: Are they the ones cheating then?

Thank you guys. My dad keeps watching these ridiculous videos about the voting system cheating and etc. and it's horrible with the language barrier. I don't know how to "fight" back because while I know there's no evidence for these things, I also don't wanna dismiss the fact that "scams" can be attempted if you get what I mean and trying to convince him that these videos are wrong.

Also as for the 1823 thing, I heard he repeated it to my mom from the video he was watching and once I came out the room and told him the above, he immediately backtracked and said he didn't mention that :ladyhaha: He keeps thinking that these videos are telling the truth simply because they're "news" and doesn't trust U.S. news because they don't like Trump :awkney:

Times are tough, if Biden can beat Trump he is the perfect candidate at this moment.

If it makes you feel better my dad just said on Facebook that it’s impossible for Biden to win because he got less votes than Obama and Hillary :bear: should I tell him

Well I assume he means a hologram metaphorically I guess.

But I'm sure some people out there would be convinced he's a literal hologram now  :laughga:

Reflecting on Biden's speech tonight, I really respect and appreciate how he humanized those numbers he's up by in these states that we're all currently tracking.

How they're not mere numbers, but actual people who are having their voices heard (seen).

There is something very very wrong about our nation that half of it accepts baseless conspiracy theories without any critical thinking.

I know the left wing is splitting up in to two schools of thoughts, the incrementalists, and who I like to call the “squad-supporters” (people who think we need to make some radical changes right now). The problem is this: We need to keep a united front while the right wing still has power. As soon as the right wing self-destructs and no longer has any political power, we can figure out how to resolve our differences. We need to stay unified in a single party with both Biden and AOC while the Republican party still has enough power to control the senate and the supreme court. I know this is causing a lot of tension, some of which is here in GGD, but we need to set aside our differences and do everything we can to make the Republicans go the way of the Whigs.

Everyone in the center and on the left has been unified in getting Trump out of office. Despite this, because of how presidential races are won in the US, we barely got enough votes in WI, PA, GA, and AZ—all four states currently have an under 1% lead for Biden—to get Trump out of office. If we split our votes, like we did in 2016 (and, yes, I know it was only like 5% of Sanders supporters who didn’t vote for Clinton, so most have been on board, but our unified lead is barely enough to win the rust belt and a couple other states), we only enable the right wing to put nutcases like Trump in the Oval Office.

Once Texas is solidly blue, once GA votes for Democrats by 5% margins, once the Republican party only has power at the state level in deep red places like Alabama and Oklahoma, once we have wide-scale ranked choice voting (right now two states, ME and MA, have it), once we reenact the voting rights act and have federal anti-gerrymandering laws on the books, and a Supreme Court which won’t take voting rights away, only then do we handle or differences by splitting in to two parties. But not now. Right now, we still need to kill the beast that the Republican party has become. As long as a party whose voters would vote for president a man caught on tape bragging about grabbing women in their private parts, we need to concentrate on giving that party no more political power.

Sorry for the long rant. I’m still traumatized over 2016, and I’m working on healing the anger I still have that just enough Sanders supporters in PA/WI/MI stayed home or voted Green to give Trump the White House.

Thankfully, it was only a one-term thing.
