The Hunter Biden story that Rudy ran to the NY Post with the was horse sh!t. But Twitter locking the NYP out there account for a week was reprehensible. They shouldn’t get to be the arbiters here, regardless of being a public company. More over they are also hypocrites - the let people post and repost a video of a man allegedly crumpling a ballot (he didn’t) and now that man is in hiding. If I don’t want Trump controlling speech, I certainly don’t want Zuck and Jack doing it either. But where do you draw the line? If people are sharing homophobic or racist things, or coming up with some conspiracy theory as to why a country has problems, then surely that should be taken down? Free speech =/= hate speech but people will defend their behaviour under "anti-establishment" "anti-left" "free speech". Something as simple as "5G causes covid" or "masks don't work, covid is a hoax" should be taken down immediately and those people should get fined. Free speech is all good and that, but we shouldn't let people disguise misinformation and hate speech as them exercising a right to free speech. And WHY is it not the same as "no shoes, no shirt, no service". It literally is the same Also, perceived as something doesn't mean they really are. If you don't like Twitter rules, go somewhere else. They don't have the obligation to accept everything because they are their own platform. Twitter isn't yours, it's theirs. It's private. That's the definition of private. Oh excuse me, I just got here, sue me! So when Twitter decides that BLM is now longer allowed to use their platform for activism that’d be cool? Why are you acting like I don’t understand what they are ALLOWED to do? You are being rude to me for no reason. I get what the private sector is, as a libertarian I champion it - but Twitter and Facebook censorship are a problem that is ok I going to get worse. Look what Foxnews has done to our democracy!! But all good because they are private. Also don’t presume I’m saying that their should be any change or intervention, all I’m saying is there is a problem and unintended consequences that IMO. And you won't be able to explain them because they don't exist. It's impossible to restrict private companies' right to control information while simoultaneously advocating for private property.
