caulixtla 2,170
The point is this: For us to steer away from our descent in to fascism (complete with Y'All Queda Brownshirts in pickup trucks), we need to have a lot of people on the fence vote and vote blue. Gaga is willing to break her aloofness on Twitter to help make this happen, because she’s smart enough to know what is at stake here. I have already messaged my friend who likes to not vote (but *is* registered) in a key swing state the video of Gaga telling them to vote, addressing their objections every time I try to get them to vote. Hopefully they get the hint and actually vote. Gaga is hard at work making the world a kinder, better place because that is what she is about and that is what she does. PsychoMaxcara 814
I wonder how effective social media ultimately is. Let’s not forget there are generations of people who will vote, generations that are not plugged in 24/7 like millennials and gen Z. Gaga’s social media presence surely has large impact, but it won’t reach everyone.

The GOP in California made fake ballot drop boxes. Courts have ruled that ballots in Michigan can't be counted if they arrive after election day. The US Postal Service under Louis DeJoy has been intentionally slowed down to create chaos around voting. The Republicans are currently making a bid to have 100,000 ballots in Texas thrown away. The amount of f*ckery being done to sew confusion about voting is at an all time high, and it is being done on purpose. Part of Trump's reelection strategy is to create confusion around voting, and claim that the election was rigged if he loses. So yeah, Gaga mass liking a bunch of tweets by fake voters, like trolling about not knowing what fracking is, is a little weird. I don't understand much about US politics, but isn't california like, guaranteed to be blue? If so why would the GOP bother with fraud there, if they'd never win anyway? Also isn't Texas usually red, in which case why would they want to throw out votes there when they're likely for trump? chaeri pls

In CA they might not win regarding the electorate college.. but there’s still senators and house representatives being voted on too, so that’s where that can really make a difference. Texas went more and more blue with demographic shifts in the last 20 years so the chances for Democrats there were never higher. Depending on statistics the 100.000 votes that they want to throw out could very well be more likely to be Democratic ones.

Well the more i know No. The House of Representatives changes every 2 years, the President has a 2 year term. And senators hold their seat for 6 years. Also there are local elections like state senate happening too. The US elections are extremely complicated, especially with states having their own rules and guidelines.
