I think it's time for her to make that evolution. its part of what makes this album so much more cohesive than Sweetener and TUN (that and no shoe-horned max martin productions). Guest Posted October 26, 2020 Share Posted October 26, 2020 My review Very bland, very monotonous, overall some songs have the same type of beat so 1. difficult to differentiate each song cause they sound the same 2. a lot of them incorporate violins in it which I find beautiful but the melodies are lacking, as I said monotonous choruses, choruses are the most important and they are all lacking, some beats sound like it was taken from a 2000s game main menu, the majority sound like waiting room music for your nail appointement. This album is meant not be listened or enjoyed but to be a background noise while you do something else, driving, waiting, cleaning... if you expect something with energy or melody in it, you're in for a surprise. Everything is quite airy, sometimes a bit too much, her vocals are beautiful and yet her very soft notable voice that is similar to Mariah's is SATURATED in every song, so much so that the lack of melody gets lost in the air and different voices that she produces, it's like being on a cloud and hearing 100 angels singing and u have no idea what the melody truly is. It might sound pleasant if you wanna relax, but to me I always care about melody and there are none, so it's very very forgettable. The only song that manages to be recognizable out of all this Cloud Airy Honey mess is POV, although it has the Wedding Song vibe to me... Damon 10,903 Posted October 26, 2020 Share Posted October 26, 2020 k after a few listens while working, gotta say i'm tuly vibing it, the strings are such a snooth and nice addition it's like she took all the sounds she worked on for the lasts years and pulled all the sharps to make it even better and cohesive, it might even be her best work? idk we'll see in the long run but gotta say i'm excited to have it on my Spotify on friday ... and now i just sit in silence. Reid LePage 4,826 Posted October 26, 2020 Share Posted October 26, 2020 it's one of those albums where it's not going to appeal to everyone, you have to understand or know where she's coming from and take in account of her history to genuinely appreciate this album. the main context of this album is dating or falling in love with someone while trying to love yourself, pov really does sum the album up in a way if you put the sexual liberation aside. this album made me cry on the first listen, god there are some beautiful songs on this album. When it comes to Ariana, I am definitely one of those people who only likes her singles. I have only ever liked one of her whole albums beginning to end (DW) so im not really shocked that I don't like it. Not my cup of tea, but the vocals are great as always.
