Archaeologists have discovered these polished tools and clay statues of a fertility cult from an ancient European civilisation who lived 6,500 years ago.

Dr Vasile Diaconu, from the Neamt National Museum Complex, who is leading the archaeological team, told Real Press that the discoveries included “numerous prehistoric objects” such as “carved and polished stone tools, bone tools, but also splendid anthropomorphic representations”.

He added: “The latter are modelled from clay with meticulous anatomical details. Most experts say that all these human statuettes, mainly female characters, are the expression of a fertility cult, common to most sedentary prehistoric communities who practised agriculture.”

Diaconu explained that “the most famous archaeological testimonies” in the area “belong to the Cucuteni culture, one of the oldest civilisations in Europe, living from 5,200 to 3,200 BC”.

Nobody knows for sure what they are but a theory is that they're depicting female bodies in such an exagerated manner because they were used for masturbation.

In case that theory is true they were simply used as an object in front of which people masturbated, basically the Prehistoric equivalent of 'sexy' images. but even so, this is for sure just a theory among many others.

I think they are just female bodies.

These kind of statues are very well-known and associated with the original people that lived in Europe before Indo-Europeans came. Some say they were religios or cultic statues and they are depicting a Mother-like divinity, some say they were used for sex. It's interesting that the original Prehistoric people living in Europe were linked to female figures and agriculture (the feminine energy) while the Proto-Indo-Europeans were more into male deities and warriors (the masculine energy).
