DWUW! Was it really necessary to cut Do What U Want from ARTPOP completely?

I agree ARTPOP just isn’t the same without it. She should have definitely replaced it with the Solo or another song. :bradley:

How many times does someone have to post “R Kelly gets royalties from all versions of this song” in this thread because no one is reading the posts and posting “she could’ve replaced it with xtina or solo version”.

I think she should’ve just replaced it with Brooklyn Nights or any of the other unused tracks.

DWUW was not good. It always made me uncomfortable listening to it. I haven't listened to it in years and don't miss it at all. Besides, I own an original cd with it on. I have zero interest in discussing it further.

No, it wasn't. But the topic was pretty polemic so her team decided to remove it to clean her public image. Maybe it was a mistake to record that song with Kelly but what's done is done, pretending a song/mistake didn't exist is wrong imo, and art should NEVER be censored.

Nah, she had to do it. The PR pressure was just too extreme, so even any sort of link-such as the solo version—would have been seen as insufficient. I'm still mad that numerous artists, from Bieber to Nicki to Celine to John Legend, didn't get that amount of pressure to remove songs with him.

Big Reputation

Eh, I still listen to it all the time. I don’t like the Christina version or the solo one

It was for the best, I will always support her decision no matter what.

that being said, it truly was one of my favorite songs for years. It is not now, but it had the potential to be one of her biggest hits.

Since DWUW it's removed, i stopped listening to ARTPOP as a whole album. Sure, i listen some songs here and there, but i think that cutting one song ruins the experience for me. However, i understand and respect her decision.

you know the song... still exists right? i still have it on my itunes

Also, the Christina version is still up and streamable, which uses the lyrics from the solo version. How is he not getting credit for that?

he is

It’s whatever that she deleted it. If that’s what she thought was best then I support it. I still have it purchased in iTunes and on the CD so she can never really take it away from me :ohwell:

Yes, it was necessary, to make my foiled version cd actually special :ohwell:

but I wouldn’t be mad if she had added Brooklyn nights, or any other song in that space.

I like to listen to music in my streaming app and DWUW it's not there. I downloaded the original album with the song, but it's in my music app on the phone, and i don't like the design that much :selena: Also, sometimes I forget that I still have this song.
