CGI is freaking cringeworthy. Also, it seems this movie is just an emulation, not a reimagined version of of the original one. :emma:

Did you think I'd show up in a limousine? No

Wow. It actually looks so good.

The cgi looks to stylized for my taste, and nothing will top the real effects done on the first one. But other than that it looks nice, it has its own style but also integrated the old style too.

Forgot her name for some reason, but she looks a-mazing, she even looks like the original actress but somehow still like her own self. And I also love the actress playing the mom of the child, ever since The Help, and other movies she has grabbed my attention.

I want to watch it already!

I don’t like the look of this at all, they keep ruining the classics leave them alone. :fatcat:

It seems like a less scary version of the original and more like a childrens movie :/

Anne Hathaway is not scary at all?! And why the accent?

This feels very American and protective of the poor little kids to me. The original scared the crap out of me as a 7 year old, but it didn't scar me or anything.

Roald Dahl is disturbingly evil, this is just Disney vibes and I usually enjoy Zemeckis movies. Won't watch this one.

I was hoping they would have gone in an even creepier direction than the original but this feels very whimsical and childish

The CGI is too much for me, half the charme of the original was that it was all real props. Also the witches don't look scary. Octavia Spencer is great though.

OOoof. Why did they even bother? The practical effects from the 90s still hold up beautifully, and as much as I like Anne Hathaway, she has massive shoes to fill.

I can't believe this is from Robert Zemeckis. He did Roger Rabbit and Back to the Future, these effects don't look worthy of him. :(
