Gurl calm down I'm just asking, I obviously wouldn't ask if I knew. Y'all know I'm not American, I've repeated that maybe a hundred times, and your system is incredibly confusing, but since I am a very political person and I have some people I truly care about in the states I have to care about that election too.

Oooh true thank you for reminding me I must've forgot

The system is really overcomplicated, but if McConnell wants to ram this through, he can. Schumer can be annoying but most Congressional experts are pretty confident nothing can stop Mitch unfortunately. At least that's what I'm reading on Politico :billie:

Lmaooo I'm as anti-Trump as it gets wtff

I'm just not a sheep enough to pretend the Democrats actually act like an opposition party and fight for the things they claim.

They like to talk the talk, but never walk the walk. It's all symbolism with them but no substance for Democratic leaders.

There is literally very little what Schumer can do when he's the minority leader.  Wait until they get a majority this election, then you'll see him getting stuff done about this confirmation.

Absolutely not, but it'd sure be great to have a party that actually fights and uses its power as the Republican Party does.

I can't stand them, but I can at least give credit where it's due.

You didn’t answer the question. What exactly are Schumer and the democrats supposed to do?

You didn't answer my question. What should they do as the minority party? What can they do?? You're literally walking the walk and not talking the talk. F*cking hypocrite. You clearly do not understand US politics or anything having to do with this so why don't you leave it to people who actually know anything at all.

Threads like this are why having political conversations on this site are worthless. People here are stupid.

Sorry, but I'm not counting on that. Just look at the House where Democrats ARE in control, and still they're not using any of the power or leverage they could be to fight this. They seem to always take any leverage they have off the table before even trying.

There's many things they could have done, but not much anymore. The House could have used the debt ceiling and the Continued Resolution as leverage, but weak Nancy Pelosi and other Dems were too cowardly to utilize this option and they threw it off the table.

I'm no expert, but I've read and watched various sources talking about these as well as other procedural things they could take to at least slow the confirmation process down.

That would require them beginning that now though to get the procedural grounds they could be doing, and they're showing no willingness so far to do so.

I'm not saying this would work, but at the very least they could try. But this is Democrats we're talking about afterall so.

Yes, let's shut down the government for a Supreme Court set. Let's make thousands of government employees go without a paycheck during the middle of a pandemic, and possible ruin the chances of Dems winning the election.

What's one thing the house of representatives can do to stop the nominee?  You keep saying they're weak and useless but don't provide one shred of an idea what they could do/could've done

This is literally the stupidest thing I've read.  Why the f*ck should we hold peoples pay hostage during a pandemic for a nominee that'll give the supreme court a super majority for maybe three months.  The risk/benefit ratio is WAY high in the wrong direction
