In 2013 there was intense media criticism of Gaga. Remember the story that got picked up by the global press about Gaga costing her label $20 million in losses? I wouldn’t be surprised if that rumour - easily verified to be unsubstantiated but unverified by the entire global media - came directly from Interscope. They knew Gaga was depressed and on the verge of either quitting music or changing labels. So they wanted to make ensure Gaga took a major paycut just in case - by making sure any potential new contract with a competitor would be worthless. Her own label devalued her, just in case she decided to sell her stake in the current contract.

Speaking of the Global Media vs Gaga hate campaign, we can’t forget that article by Vice titled “The Bitter End of Lady Gaga’s Career”. How utterly despicable and deplorable. This was not journalism. This was the corporate system wanting to shame an artist into fear and isolation. And they came so close to pushing her over the edge.

Ah ok wow... 20$ million losses... it makes sense now what I thought.

Had no idea she was gonna change labels

Wow. I just read that article... Pretty vile, but actually feels good to know how wrong they turned out to be. Who the hell tries to earn money by putting down a popstar in an article? Even stans who hate her the most have better things to do... Let’s say everything written there was correct, there were obviously greater financial reasons that needed the media to create a fake consensus and caused these articles to be written... I didn’t realize how strong she actually is, if someone wrote an article like this about me I would lose my ****.

Conflict and loss of management a few days before ARTPOP released in Nov. 2013. Gaga was depressed and trying to revive the era during Dec. 2013 - Feb. 2014

This actually makes so much sense. I didn’t think of the rumours like that before

She basically was in a terrible place, with her management team falling apart after her manager quit and her album being torn to shreds by the media and the public. She posted this on littlemonsters.com on Jan 1st, 2014 talking about the radio silence.

Yeah I remember she was promoting DWUW and then she just disappeared after The Voice performance. Then the Christina remix was released but still nothing from then.

It was a dark period in her life unfortunately...

I started to read it but it pissed me off: who was this written for exactly? There is was no angle or insight or upside...or hope. It's like a bitterly itemized list of justifications to hop on that bandwagon of kicking her while she was obviously down. Jeez. Gaga said it: people can't wait to watch a star fall.

I read this instead:

Remember When: The Critics Announced The “Bitter End of Lady Gaga’s Career”

"Noisey’s article recalled Rolling Stone’s infamous ‘08 cover story about “American tragedy” Britney Spears, another piece that miscalculated a pop star’s resilience. "

This is so sad. Every single era, she is battling or struggling with some type of demon.

I know right? It's like there's always something going on, like it's done on purpose :bear:

Long story short, her management left her right when ARTPOP was released and she want through a very dark time trying manage everything.

But why they lefted her exactly? Why she says she was not good enough for them? How horrible

I found the discussion thread of that article and a lot of users were agreeing with the author wtf.

I'm guessing it's because ARTPOP didn't sell as well as BTW and they somehow looked at it as Gaga's downfall.

There's a trade paper article that I gotta dig for, but it talked more about  Troy and co. actions. Basically Troy was moving more into the tech game (I believe he's an exec with Spotify now) but you don't abandon a phenomenon like Gaga just because of an injury. So, imagine someone having a client in such a state of mental and physical distress, that they thought they were on their last legs, like this could be it, another Britney "situation". Do you stay a loyal friend and confidante, helping your client on the long road to getting them back on their feet? Or do you carefully map out your abandonment: squeeze every last dime out of your relationship, regardless of mental/physical stress it puts on them, drag your feet on your responsibilities and sabotage their rep, so when you jump ship no one would blame you for doing so?

Like I said, the pop culture rags focused on painting her as an erratic diva about to self-destruct because those headlines sell. Managers being disruptive, greedy and unprofessional is just run-of-the-mill.
