Except for Chromatica, what do you think are going to be AOTY nominees?

Let's start off with Fetch the Bolt Cutters by Fiona Apple. This is largely given a probable major lock in for Album of the Year, solely just due to its very high score for reviews. Keep in mind, the Grammy committee always mix up the Album of the Year whether it's to choose by critical or commercial.

Second, Future Nostalgia, a critically acclaimed pop album, that had a top 3 hit Don't Start Now and also said to be one of the best albums of the year.

Next will be After Hours, a critically and commercially successful album that has some of Abel's best concept and also had Blinding Lights, a number one hit and a Video of the Year on its belt.

Third will be folklore, a critically acclaimed album by Taylor Swift, which had a number one song, cardigan, 6 weeks at number one in the Hot 200 and has some of Swift's best works lyrically this year a.k.a. august and my tears ricochet.

Next is Fine Line, a generally positive reviewed sophomore album by Harry Styles that has a number one hit, Watermelon Sugar.

Sixth for all is Sawayama, again, another probable lock if they go with critical success considering this is Rina's debut album that has a 89 score on Metacritic.

If we're going for commercial success ONLY, then Map of the Soul: 7 will probably be also in my list, and including the current success of Dynamite, it's probably safe to say this MIGHT be their first nomination.

I'm like some kind of supernova

I’m going to bet the winner between The Weeknd and Taylor Swift with Fiona Apple being the surprise wild card

I would be shocked if Taylor won AOTY a third time, even though Folklore is more deserving than her first two AOTY wins imo.

I think it's between Abel and Fiona. I'll be happy if Gaga gets an AOTY nomination and takes home at least one trophy :nick:

As long as Chromatica and SAWAYAMA get nominations I'll be happy. It honestly was a very good year for quality pop music, so it's hard to see a frontrunner.

It’s not that shocking, she wouldn’t be the first artist who won the award three times. Fiona Apple winning would be more of an Arcade Fire moment, deserving but shocking to win. Abel would be the safe choice.

Question to everyone here: why do you want Chromatica to be nominated so badly if you don’t think she has a chance at winning?

The point of being nominated is to win. There’s no bragging rights just for being nominated. I don’t think she has a chance at winning so it wouldn’t bother me if she was nominated or not.

Will Fiona submit her album though? I kinda doubt it

I think she will! She has the alternative award on lock.

Because we want Gaga to feel accomplished? Also, being Grammy nominated IS worth bragging itself.

A nomination isn’t that much of an accomplishment if you feel like she doesn’t have a high chance at winning.

Being nominated and feeling like she will win the award is more of an accomplishment than just being excited that she just got nominated and then talking about who else has a better chance of winning.

Do you get what I’m saying with that?

No, because it's an honor for Gaga. Not us. And we don't know her confidence on it.

I'm pretty sure one of the biggest yet most humble artists still considers a Grammy nomination, the biggest music award, an honor. A nomination by the Academy is a recognition of an artist's work, the winning is the appreciation part. Who would not feel honored by that?

You might not feel excited but a lot of her fans, and she herself, clearly do.

I would just rather see more enthusiasm with her winning it rather than “artist x has a better chance at winning but a nomination would be nice :awesome:
