Young Pancake 691
Has anyone read the short story, "La noche boca arriba" by Julio Cortázar. Very similar plot, the story takes place in modern times and there is a crash at beginning. Then the main character gets taken to the hospital, he has a fever and falls asleep. In his sleep, he is an indigenous person being chased by the Aztecs. At the end, he can't wake up when he tries to and we realize that the actual reality is the dream. Evil R 1,084
Well, The Color of Pomegranates depicts life in chapters such as the dream and the death. So it wouldn't be surprising to use this movies imagery as a point of reference in order to narrate a dream. Bedtime Story music video also did that by referencing this movie. ArtpopAct2 2,672
I think Gaga’s explanation of the meaning of the video shows that that it’s more of a hallucination, not a dream. Like how her bad mental health warped reality around her and made her see things differently. Not that she’s in some alternate dream world, but this is the way her mind is seeing the things around her. obviously the surreality of the hallucination itself is exaggerated for the purpose of art, but I’m inclined to think that the many hints show that it’s happening in the real world, she’s just seeing it through this surreal point of view. The main thing that shows that is the doctor bringing her back to life in the middle of the video.
