I think it's because in the US Armenians are generally regarded as "white." Also, it's heavily inspired by a film and not just random bits of Armenian culture (not that twitter people bother to check 99% of the time) & she's not wearing indigenous/native costumes even if the fashion designer for most of the outfits is Armenian.
