Some people on Twitter are already saying that. I fear that she might get dragged for cultural appropriation.

People on Twitter always find a reason to drag someone

The OP is asking a question. There's no need to respond in such a triggered way.  Please read the OP and engage in the discussion properly.

this is like trying to explain Neuroscience to a 4 year old.

It’s really no use, nor is it worth the attempt. I’m just going to carry on with my day and appreciate the legendary short film we received, and let these kids bicker about these nonsensical constructions they’ve built in their minds.

Oh for the love of it all.

NO.

Someone having other cultures in their music videos doesn't mean cultural appropriation. She didn't make fun of another culture at all.

and no, someone asking if there’s cultural appropriation in the video shouldn’t be something to get mad about, we’re engaging in a conversation that is very present in our world atm in order to be conscious and understand each other and what these things mean.

No, it’s not. You aren’t understanding that the OP never said it was cultural appropriation. You haven’t tried to have a conversation with someone, you just keep shutting people down without offering ANY explanation

I’m sorry, but to equate this with “bad cultural appropriation” and movies like Cleopatra. Like sis, stop while you’re still ahead. You sound incredibly dense and ill-informed about what the video is actually referencing, and if you were aware of what they were you’d realize it wasn’t “cultural appropriation” The OP bringing up the fact that there were lots of “Indian references”, just validated my point. Gurl....Indian references?.......where? If you don’t understand the references and the intent Thats one thing, but to jump to “like omg u guys is this gonna like be offensive?” Blah blah. CLEARLY shows y’all don’t even get wtf is being portrayed in the video.

Nobody is bickering, people are trying to have a discussion that apparently you want no constructive part of. Calling someone a child because you don’t agree with them is insulting and degrading. You clearly don’t know how to have a productive conversation with someone that disagrees with you.

Also, “nonsensical constructions” isn’t a very good thing to say. Everything in our everyday society is socially constructed.

The end of the video shows a billboard for Armenian film festival. That’s kinda obvious why she would be hallucinating about an Armenian film. The ending of the video literally shows everything she saw and was turned into a near death experience vision.

the video ITSELF shows the poster of the film, the sign of the cinema says ARMENIAN FILM FESTIVAL :saladga: Gaga introduced me to this film and possibly thousands of others. I don't really understand how that is not helping Armenia(ns) at all. It shows how beautiful it is. Gaga doesn't have to build schools in Armenia and actively lobby against Armenian Genocide denial to be able to say how inspiring their culture is. :interestinga:

Is there some reason my LG7 isn't here? Has she died or something?

???? I never said it was cultural appropriation. In fact, I liked and supported posts saying it wasn’t. I also have been researching the references and imagery and sharing it on twitter. I get what’s going on in the video and I don’t think that it is cultural appropriation. I only brought up that movie because it’s an example of what was acceptable in its time but may not be today - I wasn’t comparing this music video to that movie.

Also: don’t call me ill-informed about stuff like this when I have a degree in sociology.

I agree with this AND also agree with the point of her using the imagery as *seemingly* an aesthetic. I mean obviously it's not like a person has to have ALWAYS spoken their entire career about something they care for/appreciate but if someone who is actually from that culture has that point to make, I think it's important to listen.

Why should the OP?

Why does everytime a person sneezes at this point need to be a giant discussion on right or wrong, especially when there's literally nothing wrong?

Telling someone to delete there account because they dont agree with you is not very Nice either
