Man, some people really need to learn how to engage in discussions with people who are either asking questions to learn and/or who have different ideas and perspectives than them. It is literally having a conversation and exchanging ideas. Why do so many people find this threatening?

The term 'cancel culture' comes from entitlement - where a small group of people feel they are indeed entitled to dictate to the rest of the world how we should or shouldn't feel towards an artist, and when THEY are upset, we should all be upset, and therefore get rid of said artist. No artist has ever been 'challenged' on Twitter - they have been labeled and disregarded by a mob of keyboard warriors.

Give me an actual conversation around a topic that anyone of these people have ever had with them and I will agree.  

So yes, correct, it is entitlement. And cancel culture does exist, as much as you may like to pretend it doesn't.

Where did OP said it was cultural appropriation? And you do sound “cunty.” OP was asking a question. Also, just because that type of film was made in the past, doesn’t necessarily mean it’s okay if it’s bad cultural appropriation. The movie Cleopatra is a good example of this.

Who said I called anyone mentally ill? I’m saying this ideology of always targeting someone, looking for fault, criticizing art, attempting to construct a victim, is the problem. And I’m beginning to think it stems from people with psychological issues to begin with, and they project it onto society. If anyone has an issue with this alleged “cultural appropriation”, seems like you should take it up with the renowned, brilliant director who clearly had an artistic vision that he executed not only brilliantly, but appropriately and sensitively. People are just looking for any reason to be outraged.

You’re saying if someone is trying to be politically correct then they are mentally ill. And looking to criticize art is literally what you’re supposed to do with it? You’re supposed to think about it? Asking a question about cultural appropriation when Gaga is using cultural iconography of a group she doesn’t descend from is appropriate. Having these discussions is good and okay. It doesn’t mean someone is mentally ill.

I don’t think so, i would see it more as appreciation rather than taking a benefit from it. I’m not really aware of what things could be considered “appropriation” here but if there’s any, I believe she’s just using them to express the vision that she had whereas mocking the culture shown in the video. Gaga wouldn’t do something for the sake of being offensive, or exploiting a culture.

no because she didn’t claim it was her own. in the last bit u see the armenian film festival sign. if she claimed it as her own then it’s appropriation.
