G U C C I 5,397
I have thought this myself for a long time and I was wondering how many of you have ever thought about how her entire career seems to have been laid out since before she dropped Just Dance? It's almost like a puzzle she constructed before fame and is slowly putting it together in front of everyone's eyes? I've always thought her entire career was a non stop performance with interludes almost laid out like an opera. She has said this many times herself over the years. Today's Billboard article mentions it as well: "Maybe what has served Gaga well is the fact that she never bothered with fine-tuning her shape-shifting instincts in the first place. She has always taken them to the fullest and most extreme version of themselves, even at the risk of confounding the public. Yet Interscope’s Janick says it works out in the long run: You don’t get the hard reset of Cheek to Cheek without first getting the abrasive, over-the-top sounds of ARTPOP. And without Cheek to Cheek, you probably don’t get A Star Is Born. (Bradley Cooper sought her out for the role of Ally after seeing her perform “La Vie en Rose” at a fundraiser.) “It’s almost like she thought about all of this a decade in front of it,” says Janick. “It feels like it was all plotted out.” Thoughts? Galactic Mess 1,393
The MASTERMIND of POP Seriously though: she obviously did not plan everything, but she surely knows how to seize every opportunity and make the best out of it.
Glamourpuss 29,062
I've often thought about this. How she studied the art of fame so well that her life became one large performance piece about fame whether she intended it to be or not.
Ivy 11,854
Yes I have noticed and thought about this too. Especially when she says things like "I was always going to be famous no matter what" like it was fate or her destiny
Red 96,075
This makes me wonder what's next for her If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating.

DiskoBaby 1,929
This happened to a lot of celebrities. They get overexposed, people lose interest, they have a flop album or movie and then reinvent themselves and do a complete 180 on their career. They lay low, do other projects and then make a comeback and the world loves them again. It’s a tale as old as Hollywood. Stefani knows these rules and played it well. True but that's not entirely what is being talked about here. It's almost as if she has in some instances foretold very specific things in her career. Her manifestoes, statements in interviews talking about things more than five years before they happen, purposely leading from one genre into another project so that it fits like a story, and also odd instances like in her interview with New York Magazine a school mate describes her odd behavior at a special mass for 9/11 victims and the way they describe her behavior is identical to how Patrizia Regiani went to her ex-husbands funeral. I mean like identical and now she is playing her almost 20 years later? I know that is a HUGE stretch to the theory but it is something that sticks out to me. Hybrid AT 78
I don't know if she planned it all this way and how it turned to be (there's really no way for us to know that) but it's a known fact that she has studied the sociology of fame very deeply and how it builds people up and tears them down as quickly. This interview with Anderson Cooper comes to mind: Even if she didn't "plan" her career, she definitely knew how to get out of it if(and when) the tide turned against her In short, she is a genius "I was protected by the monks of Azarath, I was raised by my friends. They are my family, this is my home and you are not welcome here."
GenericPhag 143
I see it as a bit of both planning and rolling with the punches extraordinarily well. Gaga is a visionary, and like many, had to have some idea of how she wished her career would go. She knew what she would do when she became famous, how she would eventually go into acting, how she would brand herself from the get go, etc. There had to be some long-term planning for her to be where she is today. I don't think she ever intentionally wanted to flop or have a downfall or anything, but she is obviously very aware of how Hollywood treats women and sets them up to fail eventually and imo was prepared for that to happen at some point. That's why she was able to fix her career post-ARTPOP which is not something pretty much anyone else could have done (just look at Katy post-Witness). Not only does she knows how to play her cards right, but also she has a lot of trump cards to begin with I mean who among her peers can jump from being an iconic freaky MPG to a classy Jazz singer to an award winning actress? Well there are but they are very few and all are legendary
Doot 2
I feel like if anything, she studied what happened to other famous people, wrote about it, thought it wouldn't happen to her, and then it did. And it did affect her, but she managed to relaunch her career. But she is a far cry from the days of loving the paparazzi like she used to, whereas now she says she hates them.
