This isn’t an American film, it’s a French film

Not some people defending the scene :selena:  I get the concept of trying to bring awareness, but how do you bring awareness about hypersexualizing children by hypersexualizing actual children? :saladga:

(Haven't seen the movie nor any scenes) I guess it would be the point? The movie paints a picture. It's like bringing awareness about domestic violence by showing domestic violence on screen.

It is meant to cause a reaction and make people think and start discussions around the subject, which it does greatly it seems. So the movie did what it wanted.

This movie denounces the very thing they are doing themselves. I'm okay with a story about the oversexualization of girls especially since this is a true story, but this was done in bad taste. I don't think it's acceptable to show it in the way they did, everything has a limit. I cant even watch the trailer in its entirety because it hurts. The thought of pedos enjoying this movie hurts. The thought of these young girls doing this on camera hurts. It's just in very bad taste and a very reckless decision

And americans with their pageant culture is not better, it's a bit hypocritical when they do this and accept this from young american girls

I've talked many times about oversexualization of girls and women in this society only for a lot of you guys calling me a prude (and I assume men since 99% in this forum are men). I'll never forget. You'll never understand how it feels to be a woman and everywhere you look, you just see yourself in an oversexualize manner. Nothing wrong with sex (not for kids obviously), but when it's been pushed over and over for centuries and your gender is always synonymous with sex, it makes me sick to my stomach.

I mean, these scenes are on purpose to make the watcher feel uncomfortable.

It’s a reality many little girls do this and grow up this way, and I see it more as a critique in the director’s point of view. Did she do it the best way? no.

However the popular “shock factor” is very strong, and had the movie been made otherwise no one would even said a single word about it. IMO, like it or not the movie served it’s purpose and brought attention to this issue

If the movie wanted to bring awareness to sexualization of minors, they should have made a documentary or something. I haven't seen much of this film at all, but from what I'm hearing it is absolutely disgusting that anyone even okayed this.

While I do agree that through shock factor and grotesque / graphic scenes a greater reaction is produced, and it hits people harder, showing 11 year old girls' breasts and bums SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED.

It is the sad reality of the world, but movies like these are meeting point for pedophiles. Furthermore, maybe those girls didn't even know what they are being subjected to; they are probably kids wanting to become actors and famous, and they think that being exploited is acceptable.

I like dancin', and ponies....
