There Should Be No 3rd Single

I don't get your reasoning. The whole point of singles is to promote an album and stopping now means the era's over when its barely begun. It's a letdown for the fans who were hoping for lots of content and it stops the album being exposed to the public. There have been many albums that were flopping until a later single came along and somewhat saved the day and rejuvenated interest in the album (Maroon 5's Moves Like Jagger and Girls Like You say hello). The album's already selling very well, let's keep that going. Gaga's been away too long from a studio album perspective to stop it all after just two singles. Plus, if she gets more hits, it increases her album's status. I want to see another Gaga album that has 3 top ten hits or more once again. She's not done that since BTW and it makes an artist look really good. A lot of money is ploughed into making an album a hit ahead of time and that's wasted if the plug is pulled early. Also, "considering the state of the world?" That's not stopped any artists releasing music and promoting their eras. They still have a job, pandemic or not. Music shouldn't stop being made because the world's not doing that well. All the more reason why we need music right now to get us through it. Gaga was very unusual in that she stopped promoting during the BLM marches but every other artist treated it like business as usual and continued to have hits throughout this time. Gaga shouldn't have the album that she worked so hard on go south when everyone else is flourishing and sees no issue in doing so. And at Gaga's age, this could be her last chance to get hits in this ageist, sexist society, let's just be real. She needs to fight for every last hit she can get at this stage.

The concept of a single isn't working anymore anyway. Nobody's going to suddenly buy a song that has been on Youtube, Spotify, Apple Music etc for months now. Same goes with albums. You can all thank your beloved streaming for that.

I've heard this argument for a while now but it really doesn't hold up. Plenty of post-album singles have been successful and plenty of albums had more potential that clearly wasn't used. I'm still shocked that Ariana ended the TUN era after just 3 singles, when they'd gone #1, #1 and #2. Fans were crying out for more and there were at least 2 more hits in it. Think of how much that album would've sold if she had kept going.

I said "one of her biggest hits," it is much bigger than many of her hits. My statement is factual but you're looking for a negative spin?

I think you're trying to project something cause I'm literally not looking for a "negative spin" at all :awkney:

I have reiterated numerous times that I think ROM is a great song and that it is a big hit, but to call it "one of her biggest hits" is a stretch. Again, it's not on the same level as Poker Face, Bad Romance, Just Dance, Alejandro, Born This Way, etc. It just isn't. That doesn't take away from the fact that it's popular or that it's a good song. It is popular. It is a good song. However it's not one of her "biggest hits."

If you want to compare it to her entire discography, sure, it's a big hit, but like...why would you do that? :awkney:

It's a #1 song that just won a ton of awards at the VMAs, is critically acclaimed, is a true smash, and yet you're saying, "Ehhh. Could be better."

:huntyga:

Lol we take the Vma’s serious since when?

Post album singles are most likely to flop, so just make peace with it now. If Interscooe doesnt want to cash out for radio and playlisting payola, it will flop.

I dont care, I just want videos :bear:

I just want music videos, but it could be great to hear some new songs on the radio, in France there are only Stupid Love & Rain On Me, I'm tired :zilla:

All I ever wanted was love...

I agree on the music videos. Take the promotion budget they planned to use and use it to create music videos for every single song on the album. Alice and Enigma have big potential as singles though.

here for this!

I don't think there should be a third single. Given the state of the world, why not end the era on a HIGH? Rain On Me is one of the biggest songs of her career, and is a true smash, so honestly let's just end it now. We can go ahead and get a few more performances of Stupid Love and Rain On Me during quarantine, then open things up and really let her express her vision during the tour at the end of 2021. By this time she will have worked on some more music, I'm sure (maybe release another stripped down album, but then release another dance album). Also, I'm not sure if we should risk another G.U.Y. happening, chartwise. Let's end it on a high.

Thoughts? :bradley:

Who cares about charts? The album went number 1. The lead single hit Top 5. The second single hit number 1. This era has given us amazing concept and visuals and you want it to just stop cause....the next single won't be a number 1? Who cares??? Why do we want Gaga to be an artist that changes route the minute a song underperforms. Imagine if during Joanne era Gaga decided to call it quits after Million Reasons hit Top 5....

We'd have missed out on one of her best videos (John Wayne) and she'd be down a Grammy.

Or if during ARTPOP, she just decided to never give a G.U.Y. film, which provided amazing visuals for the era.

Or if during Born this Way, she stopped after Judas was scrapped or after You and I. Would you want to miss out on the Marry the Night video just cause it didn't smash?

Truly absurd behavior. I can't even fathom this opinion piece. Gaga doesn't drop albums in 2 year increments and why do we want brief eras??? Especially when the album is so sharp. I'm so confused help! :cryga:
