I really love her robotic vocals (probably that’s why I didn’t like the VMA performance of 911, even though I loved the choreo before she starts singing when they’re all just shaking a bit and then raising their arms)

especially when the 2nd verse kicks in after the 1st chorus, it feels like getting totally crazy in your head. Also the patch the line outro is very well done. I literally see myself getting week, trying to make it to the phone to call for help, but I’m getting kinda paralyzed and can’t make it (reminds me of my experience with edibles)

I've expressed over the last 2 days my disapproval of this song as an upcoming single and as a song in general. I don't like the beat, the lyrics, Gaga's robotic way of singing, the whole thing just doesn't work for me, doesn't make me want to dance, doesn't make me feel anything. I'm amazed it was even considered good enough to make the album, much less become a single. Even more confused how it's such a fan favourite. So, my only conclusion is to just ask you outright:

1. What do you like about it?

2. Why do you think it makes a good single?

3. Why do you think it should become a single now over all the other potential choices?

I really want serious answers as it's officially the most puzzling fan favourite Gaga song I've ever encountered and I've tried to see what others see in it and try to like it but I just can't. Please give me answers to this all-consuming mystery to me.

1. I don't know if you know but the STIGMA and shame around psychiatric medication can prevent a patient from seeking treatment, or taking their meds as prescribed.

Some patients like my mom need their medication. They may not want it but they need it. It's a matter of life and death - literally.

I'm just so thankful Gaga's willing to talk (and sing) about it.

2. I think 911 meant a lot to Gaga herself. It sounded like the medication REALLY helped her - or we'd still be waiting for an album.

She even went on Oprah (2020 Vision Tour) to talk about it for like an hour, one of very few interviews she's done since the Oscars.

It's a little controversial, and at least one critic thought 911 was about recreational drugs, but if she can help one person or SAVE a life whose to say it's not worth it??

3. I also like the song. She's so matter of fact... it's refreshing. Loved the VMA performance, the choreography. And she looked so good in that green outfit.

4. So what if it doesn't chart?? The Billboard charts are dominated by male artists - and a few YOUNG female artists, more now than ever before.

Look at Katy - #40 (Daisies). Not a bad song. Beyoncé's  Black Parade peaked at #37. Taylor's been around forever but she's only 30, still our pop princess.

Gaga is the ONLY female artist mid-30s or older with a SOLO top 10 single (Stupid Love) AND a solo #1 album (Chromatica) in 2020. Since 2017, actually.

Quite an accomplishment even if monsters don't want to admit it. In their mind she's still 23.;)

5. My point? With a #1 album and 2 top 10 singles, Lady Gaga can afford to release a SOCIALLY CONSCIOUS single, and if that's what she wants, there's nothing Interscope can do about it.

6. It's all about THE MUSIC anyway, right? JUST DROP THE ALBUM, B**CH!!!! We don't care about the charts or live performances! Drop the album now!!!

How soon we forget. ;)

The chorus is probably the most pitiful part of the song, it sounds like it's building up to something big and then backs down into blandness. It all results in a song that I don't know what to do with, I don't know how I'm supposed to react to it.

Many new songs are starting to be like that, not saying you should like that. SL, Fun Tonight and 911 have this.

Also 911 has a lot of production building up and the Chorus is perfect release for all of that tension. A big Chorus would be unbearable to listen to.

COME ON GAYS!!

It’s classic Gaga. Doesn’t take itself too serious, no try hard vocals, very catchy without being too simple and repetitive (e.g. stupid Love, sour candy) just feels really natural and that it deserves to exist.

I like the production, hello Madeon did it. It's honest real relevant for the most part. I identify with the story. My biggest enemy is me repeating like trapped in a loop of daily insecurities and anxiety. My self care anthem. Pop a 123 (Montenegro) I mean 911.

It just makes me feel empty and nothing

I think that's the point tbh. I, for one, enjoy that feeling, having struggled with mental issues myself. It feels very familiar, like coming home to a feeling you've experienced before.

Too many people here with moral superiority complex.

The instrumental and production is next level and doesn't get all at all. The prechorus builds tension like crazy and despite fans' complains, the chorus is actually so catchy and such a sing-along.

Dark lyriscs about trauma and abuse sang over sick electroning beats, this is just who Gaga is musically.  :tony: Listening to this song on the radio, chances are people will know right away it's a Gaga song.

The transition is also one of the highlights of the album.

My gripe with the song is that it doesn't really have a punch to it. There's a constant lackadaisical tone she carries through the whole song.

911 is the song I liked the least when I first listened to the whole album... (along with Sour Candy zzz)

Listen to my debut pop single 'Want You Bad'! (link on Insta)
