Also, there’s like 4 tracks from that album that weren't singles, that says a lot doesn't it?

Where was the attempt though? Maybe she attempted with Never Really Over, but she didn't fail. The rest is very different from TD:shrug:

Also, there’s like 4 tracks from that album that weren't singles, that says a lot doesn't it? :air: the non-single are also fine to me

1) fine to you is different than “this is a great song”

2) your taste (especially at the time and mine was the same) is much different than an evolved musical critic. So when this comes up you think the bias is on them not on yourself for not having a larger outlook

3) Smile, HIH, Tucked, NRO and plenty of the other songs sound like they are going for the high gloss radio friendly pop that her original albums had specks of. But the lyrics pull them away from being fully immersive “lost in happiness for three minutes” that TD had.

Absolutely, people are already getting tired of her.

She has no versatility.

Show me the versatility of Drake? Post Malone? Why do we expect so much from our female singers and so little from the males? And why do you agree to feed into this toxic narrative? Not everyone can be a chameleon like Gaga

No. It's one song in the middle of the pandemic after she released a string of hits. It wasn't really promoted much. There is no decline.

The critics disagree.

The same critics that trashed Gaga for no reason back in 2013? :billie:

She’s going to be like Lorde 2.0. Hell, even Lorde was 17 when she blew up. Nothing wrong with that.

She’s obviously just releasing those casual singles to keep her monthly listeners on Spotify. Her second era will be huge for sure!

And stop comparing Billie to some indie girls. It’s very unfair. I know it doesn’t mean anything but Billie’s impact on her first era alone was already bigger than some of these girls whole careers.

I don’t honk this was a “single” meant for sales. It obviously didn’t have that catchy hook. It was just a song she released as an artist most likely for her fans, between albums.

If Billie winning 6 Grammys including all major 4 categories and releasing a moderate standalone hit during the same year and at the age of 18 is called having a decline, what are we calling Katy Perry's career?
