Now I know Gaga has some really cheesy lines that we all know and love (it when you call me legs, in the morning buy me eggs), but for Plastic Doll it is the whole song. It sounds really amateur-ish in terms of songwriting. And it doesn't help that it is also not really well-produced. I honestly don't know what they were thinking when they were putting it on the album tbh. And no, this is not flamebait, thank you. Hide contents What do you mean not well produced? It's one of the best produced songs on the album and almost every review of the album i've read that's mentioned the song has mentioned that. For a Skrillex produced song, it is phenomenal... BeIIadonna 5,480
not this coming right after my thread... i will not stand for this OT: I completely missed the actual topic and wrote an entire different post at first so.. it's spoilered, beware. But I don't think Plastic Doll was meant to seem generic (and honestly it may be the most experimental on an album of generic songs), it's just not a good song at all. If those were her intentions then that's fair enough, but it doesn't stop the song from being generic, bad, or whatever you want to call it. (Post before I rewrote everything to actually make it on topic It explains my thoughts about PD and WDYDT?. And no, none of this is meant to seem flaimbait-y, these are just my genuine thoughts about both songs) Spoiler Imo Plastic Doll is her worst song, and my least favourite one on the album (911 & Sour Candy get to live another day! ). It's got the production, and its actually one of the best instrumentals on the entire album, but it's written quite badly, and it's boring to listen to - I don't think anything but the instrumental is good about Plastic Doll. It's just not a good song in general. At least the other songs I found boring had something that made them better (911's well written, Just Dance is nice enough to listen to, Paparazzi has an amazing performance & video, and Swish Swish is nice every now and again for a short listen, etc) or listenable at least, but I can't find a single redeeming quality in it. It's not a good song. WDYDT? Isn't her best either honestly but is isn't terrible as some people say it is, it's nice enough for what it's meant to be; a generic song for ASIB. And... that's not a bad thing either, it does what it does and it does it well, just like the other 'pop' songs on the movie.
ShayCristoforo 10,597
Yes, there's some deliberate campy-ness and meta moments. She's playing a character, just like she did in Donatella. Get the pinot ready, because it's turtle time.

selenalavigne 1,433
... ummmm someone's worst song is subjective and you have a least favorite as well even if you don't want to admit it. you can tell that it's her worst song if you like it less than the others. if you get what i mean. MOT 2,920
Really interesting thread. Everyone's opinion is valid, and it's remarkable how diametrically opposed people can be about a song. I love Chromatica and I am happy to play the whole album right through, any time, but Dear God Almighty ..... the whole car starts to GLOW when Plastic Doll comes on. It's a great track, in my opinion. Her voice is gorgeous on it. Re lyrics, well, for me music is a sonic experience first and foremost, particularly dance music, so I'm not overly pushed about lyrics, but the PD lyrics are supposed to be corny, candyflossy etc, in keeping with the barbie doll theme, surely ?
