The mistake i think gaga is making

I think this argument deep down is about old Gaga v. new Gaga. It’s a legitimate argument because both are much different. She is driven by other things now professionally. She doesn’t have the same machine around her she did before, maybe that’s a bad thing for her professionally in what you are trying to get at here, but probably better for her personally? I don’t know of course, just throwing it out there.

Outfits were great but overall it wasn't my favourite. I just dont think the songs translated well in the performance, particularly 911. Considering it was the first ever show from Chromatica and Gagas in months she did a good job :)

The hardest thing in this world is to live in it

Was it her best performance ever? Probably not. Was it amazing? Hell yeah. Everyone else that night just performed in front of a green screen and called it a day, she's the only one who brought props, had a set design and even a freaking brain piano, not to mention the 2 costume changes. I swear, sometimes I feel like you guys are impossible to satisfy, I really don't know what to tell you.

Gaga is an adult ,her performance has over 18 million views so she won anyway  and im sure she herself looks at her performances and figures out ways to be better  . Even when everyone complained about the quality of stupid love music video ,She went back to her drawing board and gave us one of the best videos of her career in rain on me .

Thats who gaga is ,lets not  act like this post of mine is affecting her in anyway. It was just something for us as fans to talk about .

I think gaga is good enough as she is

Also I agree with the fact that production has taken a HUGE backseat since recent years. She hasn’t seemed to be able to incorporate 2020 tech with her performances/videos.

She literally had her voice's wavelength materializing on her face mask, for Christ's sake :saladga:

Also, I can't with the costumes argument we've been seeing ever since Enigma... You guys have grown accustomed to the sleek looks of the ASIB era, but y'all need to remember that Gaga is not a couture girl and we didn't fall in love with her back in the days for wearing gowns. She used to glue mirror pieces to her bra by herself, that's the girl we're stanning.

I'm completely for constructive criticism, but some of your points about the performance made 0 sense to me, that's all

IMO, this her best performance since the Superbowl. It has it all.

Great choreography, great vocals and great props + setting.

Obviously, all her other performances from the Superbowl until now were great, but this VMA performance has more to offer. Yes, there were some choreography mistakes & weird cuts, but Gaga wouldn't have sent in the performance if she wasn't okay with it. I don't think she's making any mistakes, but that's just my opinion.

It's obvious she well rehearsed for this performance and I'm finally glad this performance was met with an overly positive reaction by the critics and the fan base, but some people on here are kinda nitpicking the performance.

Lol I wasn’t referring to gowns and ASIB era. Compare MTB or BTWB or any street fashion from 2008-2015 to SL and enigma and that’s what people are talking about. Those mirror bra and sunglasses from the fame era also look a lot better than some of the more current choices. It’s fine thought, she can wear what she wants. That’s just my opinion.

Let me preface by saying All Gaga songs are 10/10 and she has zero flaw and everything of hers is the biggest success ever so i don't get accused of bashing but

In terms of "not being to able to go back and rewatch it" I think part of it could be the songs. Maybe you don't love the songs as much? I know there are some exceptional Judas performances but i'll never watch them again because I don't like the song (but Judas is still the greatest song of all time so you can't say I'm bashing)

Chromatico

To me it’s simple, and it hurts as a fan but I already went through this ‘realization’ with Britney a few years ago...

2008 Gaga was hungry and thirsty to become the biggest popstar, she was giving it her 200%, hence why we got 2009 VMAs performance where you could see the fire in her eyes and it instantly became Top 5 VMAs performances of all time. What happens is people (artists, and people as in GP) lose interest over time, I do not think Gaga’s main focus is being the #1 popstar anymore, or maybe she may want to be but isn’t willing to put as much effort as she’s established now. What everyone needs to understand is these artists make it in the industry at a young age hungry for fame and acclaim and at some point it starts to wear them out and the goddess we fell in love with turns into a different artist (this is the closest we’ve been to late 2000s Gaga tho I will say but you can tell her performances don’t have as much thought (or maybe even effort)). The performance was nice, but average, I undestand what you mean. And I simply feel like she doesn’t care as much as stans do, not anymore because she did care a LOT back in 2008-2011.

I absolutely love the concept of the performance, specially the room, the old tv, all of that part was just wow. Simple but what a concept. Loved it

Some of her best performances have taken place at very simple stages with very little choreo, so I personally don't think that's the issue here. I do think that she's no longer interested in her ability to shock to be the main talking point of her career, but she'd rather people talk of her talent as a performer. And that's perfectly fair, in my opinion. For the longest time she had to listen people talk about the meat dress over her ability to sing, and at this point in her career maybe she just wants people to talk about her as a musician over her weird outfits or shocking value on stage. She was fully aware that people were going to talk about the meat, and the egg, and so on, but 10 years into her career she just might be interested in a different kind of attention

I do think that the Haus needs some fresh blood to help her polish her performances a little more and come up with new creative ways for her to shine on stage.
