How do you feel about pre-recorded live performances after the VMAs?

The fact that the VMA's performance was prerecorded made it very interesting in my opinion, and it comes with its own pros and cons. (Gaga's is the only performance Ive watched so imma base this on that one only, dont even know if the others were prerecorded too)

The main downside is the lack of a live audience, I think it made the performance feel weird, like if it was inside a box, claustrophobic.

But on the other hand, being prerecorded, with multiple visual and audio takes, made it feel extremely polished. Just like some artists and bands have done with their live concert DVDs, where they mix takes and music from multiple days of concerts.

Gaga's energy through the 3 songs was constant, never ran out of breath,  and did some of her best dancing ever.

Multiple takes also meant we could get camera angles that wouldnt be possible live. Like when the "hands up to the sky" bridge starts, it goes from a far away shot, to a close up shot of Gaga, if it was live you would have seen the camera on the far away shot getting in place for the closeup. This way, all the far away shots were clean, without the crew blocking the view.

Im not sure here, but the backdrop was a green screen right? Because that was amazing and Im not sure if that would be possible live.

Instant outfit changes, perfect specially when its Gaga we are talking about.

Would you like to see this kind of TV performances again, even when life goes back to normal? Or do you think that the full spontaneous factor of normal live performances is better?

Id love a mix of both, depending on the song and the visuals.

I enjoy both, but I think given the pandemic, I think pre-recorded performances could be a new trend, and that sort of excites me.

There's a lot of potential there but probably has less restrictions.

Did anyone expect it to be live, understanding we are in a corona crisis?

I think they did well, came with a great solution. The performances got aired and in my opinion, Gaga was as creative as I'm used from her. As to me it looked like a real performance.

This year its all gonna be a little different and I wont be surprised to see other awardshows doing it different as well.

Stanlist: Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Dua Lipa, Fifth Harmony girls, unperfect, Grace VanderWaal, Rina Sawayama

It’s less exciting for me when you don’t get real time audience reactions

I don’t mind it as long as it’s all done in one take :triggered:

This - this is the biggest point of having live performances in the first place
