She barely gave any feedback honestly. She was disappointed and...what else? She was confused by whether the vocals were live or not. She didn't like the masks. The choreo was off.

I think my preference for head mics stems from TMB and TBTWB. Those were more intense choreography (which I love ) so I know when she's got a head mic, she's about to throw down. 

But yes, I agree that technically hand mics do sound better.

Thats why I don't watch her videos   everyone is entitled to their opinion, but Gaga it better than Katy in the vocals. Katy has a great voice but if you want to learn how to sing or an example of someone singing with great technique, Gaga and Ariana are the ones to watch.

Even if the mic was in the mask, the hand mic was also very obviously being used too.

Just look at how whatever she said to Ari during the bridge wasn't picked up on the audio since she had the hand mic away from her face, but as soon as she brought it close to her mouth it was.

The multiple takes would explain why all the shots may not line up completely with the vocals like when the mic is far away and you still hear her for instance. That, or it's a backing track you're hearing anyway.

Bottom line is all the vocals we heard in the performance were live even if they weren't from the exact same shot/take. Just from different takes but still her singing live.

I think she's so shook that she tries to cover it up with snark but it doesn't work. She seems kinda mad about it.

Not everyone here being delusional thinking the performance wasn’t lip synced .  Come on u guys.  The vocals were prerecorded and the performance was cut together from multiple shots and takes

I like to think of the VMA's performance as a "live music video" it was live but they did every song say 3 times each to get the best shots etc. Gaga may have sounded the best during performance 3 during 911, performance 2 during ROM but sounded best in both performance 1 and 3 for SL. They've edited different takes with different vocal tracks. We know her mask had a mic in it for the screen to light up, I think both her hand mic and the mask mic were used for the vocals which is why she sounds like she's singing into a plastic box/off key and she sounds muffled.

Ma’am you can hear the chains from her outfit from the mic when she does the hands up to the sky part. Multiple takes, live vocals. Nothing is lip synced here

you’re 100% right. literally in every video of hers if the performer is doing really well she gets quiet or tries to figure out a way to say something snarky or rude but then backtrack. in her recent blackpink reaction video, ALL she could talk about were the “weird” lyrics that she could’ve easily googled but instead she had to make it about that because she couldn’t say anything bad about the rest of the video  

her insecurity is so transparent.
