Where is LG7 3,720
the thing with her vma medley was that it was imperfectly perfect, she made sure that everything wasnt TOO STAGED and not too obviously pre recorded despite it is indeed pre recorded. those raw live vocals just added what it should be when we see her perform live just the rawness made the whole experience authentic and not TOO POLISHED tho i always thought that her vision/message/approach for this performance was clear enough

I do agree that it didn't sound so well live but still better than ROM. Oh no. The most 2009 thing it got was the little run she did in Stupid Love, which reminded me of when she did "and baby if it's not rough it isn't fuuuuu-uuuuu-uuun" during poker face live performances End Racism Now
Flawless 2,227
I think I may be the minority but I think she did a great job with 911. I was impressed how her voice was capable to sound like that. It sounded really great for me. the scars on my mind are on replay.

Nobody actually had live vocals. Because it was pre-recorded visuals, most performers lipsynced their way through their set. Gaga didn't, and I'm so glad she didn't. It was the closest thing to a live performance. Gaga's was easily the best of the night. But 911 was off and out of place... thats all End Racism Now
PawsUpJago 1,956
Yeah if Gaga ever gets to do 911 on TV again, she needs a vocoder, am surprised she chose that song instead of another that would showcase her vocals more. I enjoyed it nonetheless, also it's very rare that her voice hits my ears wrong, but a few of the high notes in the ROM chorus (I'd rather be dry but...etc) sounded bad? Or maybe is just not how I thought that part would sound live. Is it just me? Only negatives though, I thought the performance was stunning and iconic all the same, and she ****ing did full choreo and sang with a mask. Our fav is 🔥

Defmix100 6,206
I really like the 911 prechorus the way it is but it would definitely be awesome and more fitting for her to use a vocoder for the rest. Has she ever used a vocoder live before? I know she's used autotune

I am some sort of a performer myself and my first gig of 2020 will be next saturday. I spent eight months confined, octopussing under a blanket, wolfing down candies and coffee and bingeing tv shows. Now since a week, i'm working out for my next show, rehearsing and trying to get at my usual level. Believe me, it has NEVER been so HARD. I'm not ready yet and I feel kinda nervous... So, stop splitting hairs. Gaga's did her best again and it shows, even through the slight imperfections... Don't be more royalist than the Queen ! I love this. I love users like you. Don't be more royalist than the Queen ! those "slight imperfections" are what Give Gaga's performances life and vitality, compared to overly slick, overly produced pop productions designed to hide the flaws of mediocre performers. We have to give Gaga room to be her quirky self.

She sang it live and without the obvious vocal effects, but for some reason may fans seem unwilling to allow her some artistic interpretation and change for live arrangement. Not everything has to sound exactly like the record. I for one think 911 was better with that arrangement and more interesting vocally. I liked that she re-invented the song, but if it didn't sound good to some people, then it just didn't sound good to some people. Just because she used her artistic interpretation to change aspects of the song doesn't negate the fact that people can have opinions about whether they liked that particular section of the performance. * Don't get me wrong. I loved her performance and it was phenomenal, but I also think that fans being "unwilling to allow her some artistic interpretation" is a bit rough. I think the vast majority of us can agree that this was an absolutely stellar performance, but critiques are fine too. 🦠🧙♀️🥀📸🎉👻🕺🧟💊💖☎️🔪👤🐺🌱🌎

Franch Toast 26,289
I LOVED "911" and thought it was fabulous. I loved the entire medley and thought it sounded great. Was it perfect? Nope, but that shows that it was actually "live" (as in, live when the filmed it as opposed to her lip syncing). I loved the set as well, and the storyline with her sliding down the pole out of quarantine to perform. And the masks were an excellent addition in my opinion. We're still in the middle of a freaking pandemic, and Gaga found a way to transform masks into high fashion and make them blend seamlessly with her performance, while also serving as a reminder – to younger viewers especially – for everyone to wear their damn masks. If Gaga, Ariana, and their dancers can do it while belting out songs and dancing their little tushes off, you can do it going to the grocery store. I was on the fence about buying Chromatica Ball tickets before, but this performance made me say, Franch, what's wrong with you? Of course you need to buy CB tickets! Reginald 13,840
I actually loved 911 and ROM but thought Stupid Love was the weakest part I don't think SL translates well to piano acoustic at all- especially compared to her previous lead singles (minus PI). The acoustic SL kind of interrupted the energy for me. Once Stupid Love transitioned to the album version the live "oh oh oh oh oh"s in the chorus sound really out of place and should just be handled by a backing track. I'm sure SL will get better over time though. Loved everything else, especially the live band for
