I’m so sorry if I’m getting the wrong end of the stick here but it seems to me like you would want a POC Only section in which only POC can access? Basically, therefore causing and encouraging segregation on a public forum, all just because you don’t like that other people have differing opinions?

That’s 100% not what I am saying. :ladyhaha:

If I felt that way and wanted to only discuss things amongst my own people, I would have made an account on all Black forums.

I’m echoing the same thing @PETTY just said. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, no matter Black, White, or any other race. However, when you see a thread related to Black people it never fails you see:

1 SAD react to the OP

1 LMAO react to the OP

1 shady/unneccessary comment

1 shady/unneccessary emote like :bear: :billie:

all on the first page...

We are suppose to be a kindness forum and accepting of anyone and everyone. Also I know a lot of users here to tell the difference between them having an opinions vs a subliminal racist comment.

The #1 thing that irritates me when I see non-Black users do that. :bear:

hmm I like you so much, but it was hurting when you told me, a jew, that what Nick Cannon said was not antisemitic, you were telling me how to feel about his statement and judging how I felt.

So you did the same unfortunately and I was a bit disappointed.

So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

Out of curiosity.... Are there any examples of problematic white cultural appropriations by POC?

No because no Black person wants to be white or represent their culture. Matter fact, white people don’t really have a culture at all it’s blended by other cultures. :laughga:

So if white culture is not really distinguishable and consists of blends....... Then when is it white cultural practice and when is it appropriation by a white person??? :saladga:

I would never die for my beliefs because I might be wrong

Does it really make a difference? Is that really less offensive just because it hapenned 20 years ago?

So is it only wrong if the victims are currently sufficiently offended?

“Cancelling” someone over something done 20 years ago is stupid. If they’re currently still doing problematic things then they should be held accountable

Understanding of culture and race relations changes over time and is different now than it was then. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with discussing why things like that shouldn’t have been done, but unless the person is still doing it they shouldn’t be cancelled or anything. People learn and grow and I’m sure we all did stupid insensitive things in the past that don’t reflect our current attitudes or beliefs

(I’m also not at all saying Adele should be cancelled over the hair, just that we shouldn’t compare things that are two decades apart)

I’m not saying ALL reactions have that direct intention. I’m speaking on threads involving Black people, Black artists, Black culture, BLM, racism, and other related threads. I even noticed some GGD users here sugarcoat blatant racist comments as shade which is a seperate topic that needs to be discussed.

I don’t know what kinda debate you had with @PETTY and everyone else, but please don’t be rude to me. ;)

I apologise about that, it seemed like it was directed at me.

Cool. The next time I see a black woman wear denim (i.e a western garment) or if I see Beyonce wear an Indian attire again or if I sere Rihanna wear that Geisha outfit, I'll be sure to write some pissy articles own how "racist" it is.

Cultural appropriation is a big load of bullshit, sorry not sorry. Far from racist. If anything, it's admiring someone's culture, giving it exposure and allowing it to become normal to the point it isn't ostracised so much. I dunno.

Why is there no “Amen” reaction?

Isn't she at some kind of festival in the UK where this is normal?

I feel like it's only really cultural appropriation if you're using a culture for some type of gain or as some kind of trend, whether it's intentional or not.

This. If it's just a hair style why do ppl have to make such a big deal?

The same ppl that keep yelling out racism for everything are often the exact same ppl that seem to have a real serious issue with blending cultures and wanna keep segregating everyone into categories it's so hypocritical if u ask me. Seems more like they are among the ones that wanna keep the division going. Maybe they get a kick over the drama and conflict I dunno :toofunny:

If u falsely try to pass off as that culture as some have done (ex: Elizabeth Warren with Natives), mock the culture in some way, or like u said try to gain from it that's a different story and all that is highly offensive and disrespectful

Little things like dress and hair having to be such a big deal with strict rules on who can wear it and who can't is exactly the kind of things that prove to me a lot of these movements have some individuals who are extremists. Some ppl insist there's no such thing as activists that go too far and I genuinely don't understand how ppl actually believe that with so much proof of extremes like with all the accusations that are so extra I see all the time :toofunny:
