What if Katy decides to renew her contract with Capitol? :poot: Isn't that a possibility?

i also saw somewhere that capitol paid for the bad reviews, but all the fans + most youtuber reviewers enjoyed the album???

Well first of all Daisies wasn't sent to pop because it had a HAC deal, they wanted focus on that for Katy's new era. Also it was performed EVERYWHERE and was on TTH. She's had 4 songs in the past 12 months on Spotify playlist - she got them because NRO did well on Spotify. But I just think that her music since that isn't good - nothing to do with label. Spotify won't let someone have songs on if they get high skip rates and keep dropping in streams.

I do get their frustration but I don't think Katy has ever expressed unhappiness with Capitol?

I believe it. Labels can be pretty shitty with their artists soecially when they are done with their last labum on contract, basically because they can go to another label and rival them.

I do believe the label are just putting her on the shelf now, but it’s because of her long break between prism and witness. When Gaga underperformed with ARTPOP she moved on to other things like C2C and AHS.. Katy wasn’t active keeping her fans engaged enough during her break and a whole new music scene had taken over. I think she can have a comeback with a new label and good songs.

OT: It's clear Katy is not her priority anymore and they didn't support her as much as they could have which, let's be real even if we like her, it's undestandable if we look at the results with her previous releases.

The stans love to make excuses about labels boycotting their faves when they flop, but at the end of the day it makes no sense. The labels are getting more money if an album sells more copies, why would they not want to earn more money. The thing is that they know they are not gonna get back the money they invested because the public is not as interested in KP anymore, it's not that the public is not interested in KP because they don't invest money on her.

I think as this is her last album for her current contract, Capitol doesn’t really want to waste money on her. They don’t have much faith with the record as it kept tanking since the release of NRO last year. Some label companies are evil especially if they don’t gain profit from their investments. It is what it is.

I thought you hated Katy so I am surprised to see you so invested in this

i think its just a case of katy being past her prime and Capitol putting LESS time into her and more time and resources into more profitable artists of the current moment. like Halsey.

very possible, but as much as i am a massive KatyCat and love Smile, i think people genuinely weren’t interested in the new music, along with all the backlash/disinterest people gave katy during the Witness era.

artists like Gaga have actually proven that going through a flop phase doesn’t necessarily mean the end. Katy still has a chance to regain GP interest again, as much as some delulu monsters want to believe and wish that katy’s officially over.

if KP6 happens to be her third underperforming album in a row, perhaps she is truely over. Gaga has two underperforming albums in a row, like Katy has currently. so we shouldn’t deem her over.

love halsey to death, but do you really think they’d choose an artist that is three albums in and hasn’t had a stand-out record, compared to an artist with three stand-out records and a decade-long career?:billie:

no shade to halsey at all as she’s amazing and i stan, i’m just trying to figure your logic out. Katy is pretty much solidified w Capitol so i don’t think they’d drop her. the minimal promo from Smile could also be due to katy focusing on her daughter/family.
