I think it's also obvious that the mask had a mic on, the sound waves are translated into the mask. Aside from multiples takes and Gaga being vocally trained for this, let's not forget Gaga literally swung around the air while singing in the superbowl, doing backflips mid-air while still singing. You can't see her mouth, so it's impossible to marry up what you're seeing with what you're hearing. The handheld mic has to be a prop, otherwise you'd be listening to someone singing through a mask, and it just doesn't sound like that. She's not focussed on that mike either, treats it very casually at times. I'm sure there are backing tracks and multi-takes in play, but there's also a lot of live singing.
