I'm trying to determine if I've ever actually seen her just "speak" before this video. 

I had no idea that's how she sounded or talked.

Like @Luciano said what the heck does it matter what she said or did 10 years ago?

 

People literally expect celebrities to be so inhumanly perfect. I used to dream about being famous when I was younger but this was before 2010s. Cancel culture is so extra omg

 

I know ur not "cancelling" Katy per say but it's the same attitude and line of thinking, to refer back to something a decade ago and have that cancel out something positive she's saying now

 

How many of us don't say hypocritical things or contradict ourselves or say things we shouldn't from time to time? It's called being human, and last time I checked celebrities are human too

I mean it’s not like she wasn’t throwing shade to other girls up until 2017 when her days as a hit maker ended and then conveniently switched to being pro-female artists

I don't think she was putting herself against Gaga specifically. I think she wanted to be #1 in general

 

She was competitive yes and Gaga was the biggest thing at one point so I'm sure she was competitive towards Gaga

 

But I think after her fall she has learned to humble herself and acknowledge that being an artist is not all just about charts...

 

and she herself basically acknowledged she was too invested in commercial success and public reception and tying too much self validation to it and that she had to re-evaluate herself

 

I think she's learned since then. Even if it did take a hard career landing for her to finally see it, I think she does understand now

I only watched the first part of the video but I 100% agree with what she said! It’s so tiring seeing all the negativity and hate and seeing people being compared to one another constantly. I don’t care who sold more copies I just want to listen to the music and enjoy it. It’s such a happier way to be a fan. Instead of getting irritated by sales and mad that someone else sold more albums than your favorite, just enjoy the music and be happy if and when it succeeds. I’m happy she doesn’t seem to care about things like that and can just enjoy her album release as a new mom.
