The lead single should give you an insight into the album, the era, and set the tone for what’s to come. Sexxx Dreams isn’t about anything meaningful. Applause came after a long hiatus and it set up ARTPOP well. I love Sexxx Dreams. Maybe it should’ve been a single but Gaga made a great decision here. petty 9,412 Posted August 28, 2020 Share Posted August 28, 2020 I’m not mad but I’m not surprised that she once again made a bad decision Sexxx Dreams would’ve scalped as a first single and would’ve slayed Roar in a way that Applause couldn’t. As great as Applause is, it was a risky decision but Sexxx Dreams would’ve been a radio smash. But her motto for the era was "music not the bling" so her going with Applause makes sense. We all remember a time where she said applause wasn’t even going to be on the album and it was Jimmy and the label that wanted it on and as the lead. Besides that, we all agree that aura was suppose to be the lead, then it wasn’t and she leaked it herself. So idk where this sex dream and her wanting applause as the lead talk is coming from.
