Also surely many just want to have the excuse to leave their house and have their own apartment and whatnot and this is their chance, I'm certain not all want universities to open for their 'education.' Maybe people just don't want to pay the same amount for subpar education, or wait/stop a full year to get (back) in. Places with poor access to internet are usually the same places with poor access to healthcare, so this is a big issue. Specially because in these places it would also mean that the poorest part of the population would not be able to access education, on top of their regular condition of not having access to good healthcare, effectively further increasing the power/money gap between social classes. It's a tough choice to make, because you either let a few more people die from the virus, or you let a few more people suffer to death from the poverty caused by the protection measures. And the winter won't help any of these cases. There is no winning in this situation. IDGAF

Being irresponsible isn't unique to a nation. I know that but a lot of times we seem to be something else and not in a good way lol. Anyway my county/state has did a lot better since we were the hardest hitting ones with like +120 cases/day, we're now down to 30 while the country is still rising.... stevana229 1,916
Honestly, I can't see colleges and schools in America staying open passed October. Once the east coast in America starts school in a week, cases are going to SKY ROCKET. then the lockdown is going to happen all over again. Colleges in the south have already been closing
DirrtyPony 1,330
I'm so tired of this narrative that "we've suffered long enough." That's not how this works. There is no timeline for when things "go back to normal". This doesn't just disappear because you tolerated social distancing and the masks for 5-6 months. I wish people would stop being so shortsighted about this whole pandemic. Strung out for another taste

My point still stands, many people are selfish and would rather need the university open for their own needs disregarding everybody's else health and all the risks. Plus, I don't understand your point as no one says that people should stop getting educated. You can take classes online and graduate just like you did before.. like People should be granted the acces to internet and many countries are already proposing to give laptops to the children that don't have acces to internet.. however my point was about universities. 38 minutes ago, HEARTSTOP said: Places with poor access to internet are usually the same places with poor access to healthcare, so this is a big issue. Wouldn't make sense to protect especially the areas where people don't have the acces to healthcare?
RahrahWitch 6,985
Wish I could say I was surprised but I expected as much. Everyone's moaning for pubs to open back up while having house parties, It's a special kind of selfish and stupid.
Lemonky 671
Better now than in winter Our epidemiologists say that it's not actually bad that many people are infected at summer since corona is much more dangerous in winter; now, as many people gained immunity, it will be less dangerous for them and virus will spread slower. Be optimistic!
MadreMonster 2,584
Schools should just have virtual class as much as possible. I know it’s hard and putting a lot of pressure on teachers, but it would help so much

Not all of them of course, but whenever I’ve been out for a walk or ventured out, there’s always mass groups of them. Why can’t they get into their thick skulls that it’s not about THEM for once in they’re life. It’s about our parents and our grandparents who’d do all they could to protect us if the shoe was on the other foot. UGH, sorry for the rant, just had to vent lol! I hate the "I know them, we're friends" Just because u know someone doesn't mean u cant get infected "They had hand sanitizers in the entrance" You still need to wear ur mask and social distance "We are not going to die from it so it's fine" 9 years old have been dying from it it's unpredictable "When you're outside I feel like it's useless to wear a mask" Been proven you can still get infected outside or inside although inside and in a confined place u have more chance "We can't let this make us stop living" Fine then go on and infect yourself if u want this so much

Summerboi14 807
The worst is that I can go into my class next Monday and took my mask off in the classroom. I won't do it. I don't want to die or that my parents die because of me.
