I know a lot love it and she's successful but it's just so bad it gives me a headache. I'd rather listen to vintage music at this point until I die When did it imply Sophie? Electronic music is everywhere and it can be very artistic. I'm confused, you're on a fanpage for an ELECTROpop artist

Gaga exe loading 426
2 hours ago, Kimmo said: “A lot of them don’t get played on the radio because they’re too sophisticated and we get songs made by a computer all the time and I’m not interested in that.” [Elton] revealed he’s a fan of singer-songwriter Father John Misty because he writes “proper songs”. “(Misty) reminds me a little bit of me the way he writes songs,” Elton said, adding that he was also a fan of 21-year-old Conan Gray, a rising singer-songwriter on American Spotify’s Top 50, for crafting his own music. “There’s a boy called Conan Gray who has a song called Heather and he’s about 22, he’s from America and he’s the only person in the American Spotify Top 50 to actually write the song without anybody else,” he said. “Everybody else there’s four or five writers on (a track) and (Gray is) going to be huge,” he predicted. “You look at most of the records in the charts – they’re not real songs. They’re bits and pieces and it’s nice to hear someone write a proper song.” “I like people who write songs. And there’s plenty of people that do but a lot of them don’t get played on the radio because they’re too sophisticated and we get songs made by a computer all the time and I’m not interested in that.” Speaking to the outlet ahead of the Record Store Day re-release of his debut album, the legendary musician admitted the revival hasn’t encouraged him to start revisiting his old tunes anytime soon. “I don’t listen to any of my records any more. I just don’t do it. I’m not one of these artists that sits there compiling stuff from all the vaults and stuff like that,” he stated. “I’m more interested in what’s coming next than what went by,” the “Crocodile Rock” star insisted. https://au.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/elton-john-declares-that-chart-music-isnt-real-music-16239/ Lol is this about sine from above? I doubt it Im not saying electropop is bad, Im saying the music on the charts right now is awful. And SOPHIE's production style is awful too. You can't really tell artists that their art is not real art, but there's no doubt in my mind that Marry The Night is much more timeless and enjoyable to listen to than anything SOPHIE ever produced or any Tik Tok song that's popular right now. A lot of songs sound cheap as hell for me. But of course, as art is so SUBJECTIVE I cannot say your point of view is bad and mine good.

You picked one specific example of each. However, he generalised basically a whole branch of music. There's plenty of amazing examples of electronic, computerized music that can also be "sophisticated". And there are many songs with depth on the charts. The "timelessness" is only perceived so by the older generation. GYBR stems from a time when anything anyone did was groundbreaking. People then were impressed by a dude sitting down by the piano and singing about the simple. If you asked someone from gen z maybe WAP is more of classic to them then some song from the 70s. But for some reason we're still letting older people be the judges of quality when in reality it's only natural that trends and taste shift and change over time. My whole point here is that Elton is pretty old school and always considered himself as something better simply because he's a songwriter and can play an instrument. But there's no such thing as objectively better music.

lifeasgeorge 9,427
I don't agree with the disrespect to electronic music but I do agree that the charts don't necessarily reflect the best music. Especially nowadays there is so much fraudulence with bundles, fans pulling money to buy a new single, discounts, putting out multiple covers, radio payola, etc. all to get a #1 album or top 10 hit. The charts have lost so much credibility over the years, like sure your song or album charted but if it made zero real impact and will be forgotten in 10 years then what's the point? live and let live

ArtpopAct2 2,672
I just read what he said about ARTPOP, wtf? He even assumed Gaga would agree it wasn’t good when she f*cking loves it how can someone who says stuff like that and the OP be friends with Gaga? Like what do they even talk about. Hating on computerized music, when that’s one of Gaga’s passions...
