Will the Media Ever Try to Take Out Ariana Grande?

The media tries to bring down every female popstar, but when will they do it with Ariana? Did they already try with Donutgate? Or would they not dare be petty with her after what happened in Manchester?

Red Velvet

She will rebounce like all the other girlies did.

Madonna had COADF after American Life, after ARTPOP, we have a reinvention of who Lady Gaga is to the general public, never forget how Circus and Hold It Against Me was another conquest for Britney, and the reputation - Lover eras.

She'll do fine.

Did the media even attempt to ruin her with the donut?

It doesn't take the media trying to spin things to know her licking the donut was obnoxious and gross. :bear:

I thought that they didn't really go after her aggressively, like they would countless others. They seemed to mainly express disappointment in her when that happened and they had to comment on it. I think it's because she was a staple in the industry as a child actor and that she is tiny, cute and pretty, so they handled it with kid gloves. I think people feel it would be cruel to mistreat her or shame her, because of her looks. She just looks so sweet and younger than her age. She still could pass for a teenager, honestly. Maybe that is the reason she coasted through that and then that awful event played out at her concert. Everyone felt terrible for her.

If they do come for her again and aggressively, I think she can and will bounce back from it, just as all the rest of the pop girls have after some time passes.

The future's uncertain and the end is always near.

didn’t they try a few years ago, with all of the diva rumors and fake stories they made about her, like saying she “hoped all of her fans would die?”

she’s strong on social media with her following and engagement, and i don’t really see her getting herself involved in anywhere that could become a sticky situation from a PR perspective. she’s generally sanitized from any “trashy” drama

she honestly doesn't give them much to work with.

on a personal level, she's remarkably un-problematic/scandal-free for an artist of her caliber. on a musical level, she's only gotten better with each album (and also increasingly commercially dominant). her whole brand is based around elegance and poise, and it's never over the top or ever really controversial.

She uses the typical male singer strategy – she centers her career on her music rather than visuals. All that said, she's also NOT a diva, and the grace she displayed after Manchester, Mac's death, and ending her engagement with Pete built a TON of goodwill with the public. Even people who don't necessarily like her music respect her.

Makes me think of the potential beef she had with 2 Chainz when he said she ripped him off with the 7 Rings cover – she asked him to meet and they ended up recording a song together. Like, she genuinely seems like a sweet, level-headed person who really just loves making music and has no appetite for the other trappings of the industry (including, for example, album covers – all of them are incredibly simplistic because she cares far less about looks than how the music sounds).

because of that, i don't really see her ever getting torn up by the media. I think she's going to be a lot like Rihanna and Beyoncé in that regard – she'll have her defectors, but she'll never face the intense backlash other artists have.
