elijahfan 26,081
Ari Asterâs films have a way of staying with you for a while... Itâs incredibly layered and so intelligent. I love how each project has such a fascinating mythology around it. Heâs already one of the greats imo. 2 minutes ago, Lorde Von Kok said: I'm still baffled that Toni Collette wasn't nominated for Best Actress. And donât get me started with Florence Pugh in Midsommar.... the literal greatest acting performance of 2019, if not the decade.
Doot 2
Oh wow, what a coincidence. Tonight I actually had a long awaited hang out session with a friend where the entire goal was to get him to watch Hereditary finally. He and his girlfriend were absolutely shaken! So weird it was a thing for both of us today.

tomsches 17,392
I loved the movie. I was slightly disappointed by the end when it turns supernatural because for me the horror of the movie was the family dynamics. That dinner scene gave me chills... But, as I have said before, even Stephen King criticized the movie due to its deviations from the novel. And the movie is just boring. Actually, can say the same about Doctor Sleep (2019).

The Shining shooketh me to my core the first time I saw it and continues to wow me every time I see it. Itâs a masterpiece. Dr. Sleep was a very good sequel and film in its own right. Thatâs my truth. And you can have yours. i don't remember ARTPOP

Lion Heart 15,041
I LOVED this movie. I tried to get everyone i know to watch it. Toni Collette was phenomenal in this movie. The dinner scene was outstanding and her wailing stayed with me for weeks. The only scene I did not like was the attic scene just right before the ending. It just seemed comical and ruined the dynamic of the movie. Also TYT hosted a watch party on Twitch Saturday and we were watching Midsommar, and a lot of the boomer fans were shocked.  The last song >>>> âââââââââââââââââââââââââ

The book was a supernatural horror, thereâs no doubt the hotel is haunted, the paranormal events are real, and Danny has psychic powers. The movie on the other hand is more of a psychological horror, focuses more on cabin fever and makes everything more ambiguous, like itâs all in Jack Torranceâs head. Itâs more about his descent into insanity than the Overlook being haunted. And King didnât like this interpretation of the novel. I think the movie is great but once you read the book you kinda think âhmm the movie isnât THAT goodâ

I would probably feel differently it I had read the book, but also donât feel itâs necessary in order to appreciate the movie for what it is. I know there were liberties taken, and I get why people are critical of it. Have you seen Doctor Sleep? Apparently they did a decent job of honoring the book as well as the Kubrick version. i don't remember ARTPOP
