And remember that this was shot on an iPhone and it's probably why they didn't edited the whole desert

I agree about it looking the same minus the colours.

But the shot on iphone thing is irrelevant... the raw footage was captured on iPhones but obviously all the editing and post production was done on computers.

I think the video (and maybe Chromatica as a whole) would have worked well with some sort of additional exposition. Hell, maybe even a minute (or even 30 seconds) more of quick tracking shots of the world of Chromatica- the mountains and scenery, the desert, the city (to imply ROM, future videos), some more shots of the different colored Haus'es fighting. I think that would have given the images in these concepts art pieces more time to breathe (than just be random background shots).

Actually, iPhone footages are very hard to deal with on post. I can just imagine the vfx artist whining about having to motion track those rocks for the crystals. You can even notice the crystals glitching on some parts of the video.  Even dealing with greenscreen is hard to do with iPhone footages. I honestly believe the shotoniPhone concept hindered the production to do more, vfx-wise. I still love the video nonetheless.

Right, but just one small thing like making the whole set pink would've made a big difference. Honestly, unless you were paying attention to the background, it just looked like she was in a desert. Adding more things like making the desert pink helps to differentiate it and make it seem more "alien-like," like how it's supposed to be.

I was wondering how post would work with an iPhone, tbh. It seemed like they still had a lot of professional gear, especially with the rigging, so I would have hoped that motion tracking wouldn't have been too difficult? Then again, I never noticed the CG glitching in the video.

Maybe they should have just done straight up 90's action-adventure kids' show camp, so the VFX didn't have to look so intentional and modern.

Oh well, shotoniPhone probably gave her team hella funds, which I am hoping is what helped contribute to ROM's quality, haha.
