Drag Race Vegas Review first episode thoughts

So the first episode just finished and I have some thoughts...

- Silky Nutmeg Ganache is Miss Vanjie’s upstairs neighbor in LA. Cool I guess.

- Asia O’Hara is engaged and looks really happy with her man.

- Kameron is still fine out of drag.

-The creators or editors of this show don’t know wtf they’re doing. We start off in LA with Vanjie and Asia packing and getting ready. Then we go to Vegas to do the same with Derrick and Kameron but for some reason we don’t do this for Yvie and Naomi. They sort of just pop up with the group and we’re supposed to act like they weren’t just cold shouldered by the producers.

- Derrick’s partner Mick/Nebraska Thunder**** is annoying as hell and clearly just popping up to be on camera. Maybe India Ferrah made some points.

I’ll watch another episode but I don’t think I’m gonna watch much after that.

It actually looked really innteresting to me to finally have a reality tv (à la kardashians) kind of show for the drag race franchise?

So what didnt you like about it exactly? Because the production seemed ok

Pacing was really fast and confusing. Weird decisions were made like choosing to show the party argument between Naomi and Derrick and Nebraska through flashbacks when they obviously had a camera crew there filming the whole thing. The intros were weird too because, like I said in the op, we totally skipped Yvie and Naomi for no reason. It just feels disjointed like they don’t really know what they’re doing with the show, which apparently supposed to more of a documentary. They should have just gone full reality tv show imo. I think that’s the problem. They have the material but they’re just not giving it to us the best they can.

I haven't watched the episode yet but when the trailer premiered, I was pretty confused about what the actual "storyline" would be. Based on reactions I've seen, it seems like they also don't know if they want it to be more about the queens preparing to perform the vegas show or the "real housewives"-ish drama that goes on behind the scenes. Is that kinda your takeaway?

It’s definitely more about the live show but I think they could have done a better job integrating the fun/personal/drama part into it. I just feel like I’ve seen better structured reality drama shows.

Nnnn they’re joking. Holland is coming soon tho. And this one isn’t really a drag race, just a reality show about the Vegas show with the queens.

I mean isn't that with all reality shows? Idol, Got Talent, Next Top Model , so many countries have their own iterations.

So considering drag still being so niche, it should be more applauded that drag is getting the mainstream treatment and drag queens of other countries are getting their shot to fame or be on tv as well.

No one's forcing anyone to watch all of them.

It’s a reality show about the BSB studio and the Vanjie/ Kameron storyline was well as the  packing and stuff that the OP mentions reminds me of the BSB show

:enigma:

please enlighten me to death
