New Zealand is doing fine and they are still taking precautions. This is what I wish was happening in the US. (Although, a delayed election in the US could be problematic for a number of reasons; I am mainly referring to my wish for the US to be in a situation similar to New Zealand.)

That's a bit curious, especially since NZ is doing really good regarding Covid, so the risks are pretty minimal atm. But apparently a majority of people asked for it  I just hope it's not gonna give ideas to others... :awkney:

The people of NZ also have a lot more confidence in their government :laughga: while Americans seem more than eager to get this year's election done with and over

Definitely... I just don't really imagine the situation evolving much in 4 weeks. I'm afraid it's gonna do more harm than good internationally, once the orange president or others use the situation as a precedent.

Luckily, Trump doesn’t have the power to do this.

Unfortunately, he’s going to try to disenfranchise as many people as possible to steal this election.

Please, please, please if you haven’t already — check to see if you can request your mail-in ballot TODAY from your state!

I think a big part of it is because we just had an outbreak tho so now people are more on edge especially because it just came out of nowhere and now we just wanna be safe. The USA shouldn't tho cause it's a sh*t show over there and idk if it will get better fast enough for postponing to be worth it:bear:

If he dares to delay the election, it has to become law. Congress has to pass a law to allow the election to be delayed, but both parties have said there is no way the election will be delayed.

The US President can’t delay an election. Even if he could, the Presidential election is not just one single election. It’s a collection of thousands of small local elections run by the 50 states and the District of Columbia. You can almost guarantee blue states aren’t going to delay the opportunity to vote him out. Even if Trump somehow pushed his red state followers to delay by some kind of unconstitutional executive action, it wouldn’t mean those states would be waiting to participate in the election later, they just wouldn’t get their electors counted at all. So it would literally just be blue states left with their electoral votes for POTUS and VP.

The Constitution also makes it very clear that presidential terms end at noon on Jan 20, election or no. So another even if he could somehow get all the hundreds and thousands of elections for presidential electors, senators, congressmen, governors and state and local legislatures delayed, his term would be over on Jan 20 at noon no matter what. The only way that could change would be by constitutional amendment.

Hes just trying to scare his base with these claims. Some people think the SCOTUS could somehow rule in his favor, but there’s no precedent for delaying an election, nor would any of them besides maybe Bart Kavenbeer throw the country into a frenzy like that. There’s a lot of crazy ass Trumplicans out there, but I can’t see America bowing down to a literal unelected dictator.

And Paula Abdul ain’t got [BLEEP] on me!

Don't give the orange turd any ideas

Trust me he's already had the idea and is probably looking for ways to make it happen.
