But that’s exactly what my principle is, pop right now is hiphop and rap and these 5 women have all hit and made a mark on pop culture.

music has changed quite a bit imo. just over a decade ago pop female icons were basically queens of the music industry, today we are really only left with a handful of them still standing. also hip hop/rap/rnb has really dominated charts and has basically taken over the music industry as being the “dominant genre” when pop music stayed this way for decades.

I’d say Ari is the MPG right now. Like her music is r&b but also has a lot of pop influences too. She’s on top rn. She’s really been the only MPG since Taylor with 1989.

Billie isn’t a MPG causes she’s not pop in any, way, shape or form. She’s alternative.

Dua isn’t MPG. She’s only broke outside of the UK/Europe this year, so she’s too new to be a mpg. Her next album will really show if she will be a MPG

Dua Lipa is slowly but surely earning that title. Remember, she’s a lot bigger in the UK and Europe than she in the US.
