Made this summary for those who couldn't listen or want to reread!

- The making of the album happened without them planning/noticing, it happened organically because of their friendship (Gaga + Bloodpop).

- Bloodpop said there wasn't anything that Gaga wrote that he really disliked.

- Bloodpop said that Gaga was writing "a lot of the songs subconsciously on the deck before actually going in the studio".

- The last few months were the hardest in terms of making the record.

- Gaga compared finding the right version for the songs after all the collaborators had worked on them with following different pathways to one house where you need to be.

- Bloodpop wants to work more like that (i.e. collaborating with different producers) in the future.

- Bloodpop thinks Gaga was less "rigid" by the end. Alice was the last song that was finished and she was less critical, more open to how they finished it than at the beginning. (Can someone confirm/modify? I didn't 100% understand this part).

- Gaga said she started writing at least 2 years before the production was finished.

- Talking about finally getting out of the negative mental space: "Something that no longer served me died".

- Chromatica is her most personal album, even more so than Joanne.

- For Bloodpop, Chromatica started "2 times": 1) in Kansas City 2) when Gaga cried at her birthday party because BP didn't like what she showed him, because (Gaga's words:) "what I wrote wasn't the truth, it didn't sound like an artist".

- At the end, Gaga rode her car to the studio in full Chromatica gear. She was back, saying that whenever she's not mentally well, she feels like she has no style and that her personality is drowning. BP explains more in detail: Gaga's style came back when she started Enigma in Las Vegas. He pinpoints the moment this happened: "You put all the songs on the sticky board and I said we needed to get out of the house, you're ready".

- Gaga felt a lot of gratitude when she remembered what she was capable of and because of the collaborators sharing with her what they were capable of. "I went wow, I can still write a song. When I remember I'm Lady Gaga I get really sad. I love being Lady Gaga, but I hate the lack of freedom."
Cue the tweet of "you wanted to be a popstar".
"I was gonna be Lady Gaga no matter what"

- The album was almost going to be called "Free Woman", but Gaga felt like she didn't believe to be a free woman. She recalled jokingly saying "if where going to really call it Free Woman, the album cover will have to be me on a porch, with prison bars around it".
So for Gaga, "Free Woman" is more about and for the trans community than about herself.

- During a long time, Gaga and BP never went out for fun, except his and her birthday parties. Then finally they went out with HANA and Gaga ended up with 4 hot dogs and a hangover. They had another party where she met Michael and then "everything really started to change".

- When they thought the album was finished, they hardly got any feedback. BP: "Everybody liked it. Even the most critical people" Gaga jumps in: "Oh, you mean even pretentious dance music makers".

- For Gaga finishing the album was a mental emotional release: "I love you and goodbye, I want you to never come back into me" (referring to the mental state she was in, all the pain she wrote away).

- BP's favorite moment was when they first played ROM with the new bassline to Gaga + when Gaga made Ariana dance during recording the song.

- BP put a lot of art on the wall for Gaga, to see if she saw Chromatica the same way he did.
Gaga said that in the beginning she was just "making music in the dark". The lyrics and sound came first, but the vision and the concept of Chromatica didn't come until much later, at that exact moment. Gaga compares it to going from no colour to all of the colours.

- She recited 911 lyrics, linking it to suicidal thoughts.

- "I'm a totally different bitch now". Gaga recites the grave part of Replay and tells Bloodpop he's the reason she got out of that grave.

- Some things that we already know: feeling depressed, "let's go to the studio and write a song", Chromatica portal etc.

everyone saying BloodPop‘s influence was bad is the reason why Gaga sometime hates her fanbase. You are toxic, we don‘t need this energy here.

tbh, yall deserved to get nothing from her this past 2 months

I don’t get where this hate comes from either, but some users have been hating on Bloodpop since he was announced to be one of the producers and when the album came out, some said that "Bloodpop is everything that’s wrong with Chromatica" and that they hope she never works with him again :poot:

I wonder how many people are actually listen to this.
Maybe only 0.5% of Apple Music users actually listen to this. :billie:

I haven't listened because I don't have Apple Music.

He also helped pull her out of suicidal depression by letting her connect to music again. Not to mention he helped craft her most sonically consistent and critically acclaimed project yet. I swear 80% of this fanbase needs to get their internet privileges revoked, it's honestly mind boggling how one of the sweetest, most interesting artists out there has the cuntiest fans alive.

I didn't listen to it, I just got the gist of what she said from the comments and I feel like crying. It's really heartbreaking reading that she wanted to kill herself and she doesn't like fame. :(

Actually she said that she loves being Lady Gaga she just hates the lack of freedom that comes with fame but for her it was never really a choice she was always gonna become Lady Gaga no matter what

but yeah it was pretty heart breaking to hear how hard it was for her especially because ARTPOP and Joanne were not easy either.... I just hope she is feeling even a bit better now

Free my mind, ARTPOP

It sounded like he had a lot to do with the albums final product from the music to the visuals ... and they are amazing.

I wish they took a pic and shared of his inspo board they talked about

It was actually quite an insightful conversation to me. I had no idea that the process of making this album was so chaotic and directionless. She literally said that she didn't have a vision and would just hope that she could write some sh*t on that particular day. It's a very "I have to work that's why I'm here" kind of mentality, which we all know is so unlike Gaga. It's almost like she was just meeting deadlines and Bloodpop really helped her get out of that impasse and she seems to be happy about who she is right now than who she was, even though she had more control and dominance in the past over her artistry. The good thing is you can hardly tell by the music you hear, the album is praised as her most cohesive, personal, mature, disciplined, and vocally accomplished, but we had no idea she went through hell to achieve this.

Like if you look at Chromatica, there are a lot of aspects that don't seem Gaga. The lack of production credits, the constant passing around of the music, the collaborations with unexpected producers like Max Martin, Skrillex, Ryan Tedder, BLACKPINK and Ariana. I think she has achieved a psychological freedom that she was hesitant in approaching, which is why there are a lot of things about this era that have puzzled fans.

Hopefully that this 'new Gaga' won't completely inhibit her from taking control of her art and performances because that's one of the things we like about her. Bloodpop mentioned how the Enigma residency woke her up and I think live performances are one integral aspect that makes Gaga feel like a pop star. I believe she will continue to change radically once she's allowed on stage, and definitely in a good way.

THIS. and isn't it kind of crazy in that how directionless and seemingly joyless it was, it somehow came together to be her most cohesive and oddly joyful body of work?

Why are people dragging Bloodpop on Twitter :messga:

They only focus on spouting hate towards people whenever something doesn't go EXACTLY how they envisioned. They don't care about Gaga's feelings and lack any sort of perspective to even attempt to acknowledge just how imperative BloodPop was in the recording process for Chromatica AND aiding Gaga with her fight with depression, which is more important imo.

People can dislike BloodPop's production and still maintain some amount of respect, however they clearly have none. I can guarantee that some of their absurd opinions will not change even after listening to this interview either, which shows how narrow-minded they are.
