Meta's Muse AI has claimed the @muse Instagram handle, previously used by the British rock band. 
Many fans  noted the irony of the switch, as Muse are known for a number of songs that warn of a dystopian future in which we are ruled or brainwashed by technology. x

I mean makes sense that the owner of a platform can just change what they want. I’m sure Muse were compensated though since in order to get social media handles nowadays from people you pay for them. I know Trixie Mattel has @ trixie as her username on most things except one platform where the holder of the username wanted 60k for it off her.

I really, *really* don't think they were even consulted, let alone compensated. As you said, Mark owns the site so he can do what he wants with it, there's probably clauses about this in the contract you agree to when you sign up.
