You were disappointed with the album? Great, not everyone is going to like it. Does that mean all of us need to be disappointed? No, don’t try to convince us to dislike it. I already know i can’t convince you but i can admit that ARTPOP may sound messy, yet it’s still my favourite album. Y’all can’t.
Bloody hooker 6,445
No, but that doesn’t mean it’s a bad album. Knowing that she had Boys Noize and Sophie on the album at one point made me excited for some techno, electro-pop, and experimental songs. This mutual gaze was a “longing to touch” or a "pre-coitus" stare.

Most songs’ instrumentals just don’t hit hard enough and you can just listen to them on youtube. Plus they’re very generic and forgettable. Those are facts but ofc people can like those songs. I’m just saying that if you compare it to previous Gaga work, the album almost seems to lack effort. Maybe you like easier stuff. I personally don’t

REALITY 76,603
Not necessarily, but also, I'm not mad at it. Chromatica is in my Top 2 Gaga albums, so regardless of my expectations, I still loved the end product. I will say, I did expect the album to have more 90s house influences. For example, I thought that the FW demo was a perfect example of blending the 90s house sound with Gaga's signature style. If we got an album full of songs like that, I think I would've loved Chromatica even more. The album is definitely her return to her electronic/dance pop roots, which I expected. It's more "commercial" sounding (relative to her other albums), which I also thought this album would be. My only critique about the album as a whole is that I just wished it pushed the envelope a little bit more. The songs are fine, they're great, but I also think that it had a lot more potential. The demos, IMO, perfectly captured that balance of 90s house and "GAGA"—if that makes any sense. 𝔊𝔬𝔬𝔡𝔟𝔶𝔢, ℑ'𝔩𝔩 𝔰𝔢𝔢 𝔶𝔬𝔲 𝔦𝔫 𝔪𝔶 𝔡𝔯𝔢𝔞𝔪𝔰

REALITY 76,603
Also, reading some of the comments here, what is it with this phrase, "It sounds dated?" I never really understood that. Like, what is the time frame in which a song sounds "dated." Because if an artist today released a record with 80s influences, everyone would say, "Wow! That sounds so nostalgic! I love it!", but when Gaga takes influence from 90s house, it's "dated"? When does it stop being "nostalgic" and starts being "dated." Anderson123 38,380
I love Chromatica for what it is now, I think the 90’s house really suits Gaga’s style and it’s a pretty good album. However, I was expecting a darker sound, not as commercial as it was. 911 and Rain On Me are actually more around the type of music I was expecting. When I read that she was working with Boys Noize, Sophie and when I saw the album cover and the robot/apocalyptic Paper Magazine photoshoot, I thought this would be more like a Government Hooker / Heavy Metal Lover sound she’d go for. Kind of what I was expecting ARTPOP to sound like.

Not that the album is bad at all, but it's just not for me. I like several songs but I thought the rest was meh... There's still songs I haven't heard in full because they don't click with me at all. The only songs I love (without finding them incredible or being really wowed) are Stupid Love, Rain On Me and Replay. But I guess it's just a sound I'm not a fan of. It's still a good album I guess. I know it's cohesive with the visuals because I'm not fan of them either. It's my least favorite Gaga album cover and I don't like the photoshoot either. But I still love Gaga, and less than two years ago I looooooooved ASIB and its incredible soundtrack so I'm not mad. Gaga changes her sound everytime, so we can't be in love with every album she puts out I'm looking forward to hearing LG7 or her next movie or unknown project See, I like this post. It shows maturity. You don't necessarily like the album, but you dont trash it. You know that her sound changes each time and that not everyone is going to like each one in order to remain a fan. I commend you.
