Politico apologizes for reporting Kamala as VP pick

Politico issued an apology for reporting that presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden had chosen Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) to be his running mate, with the publication saying it regretted "the error and any confusion that it caused."

"Joe Biden chose Kamala Harris to become his running mate for the 2020 election on Aug. 1, two weeks before the Democratic National Convention, after keeping his choice close to the chest for months," Politico wrote in the now-deleted report.

"In his announcement, Biden called Harris 'a worthy opponent and a worthy running mate,' alluding to the pair's rivalry during the earlier stages of the Democratic primary. She will bring her experience as a prosecutor, household name recognition, and skill as a debater to the ticket," the news outlet added.

The report was deleted after being flagged on Tuesday by Mark Bednar, who serves as spokesman for House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.).

I'd bet they have one made up for all 4 top "picks" so that they can be quick to break the news. It's like how celebrities already have obituaries on file

It’s the timing and source that makes it a little sus to me. I don’t really buy that Politico made a mistake like this on the day Biden reaffirmed he’ll make his decision public next week. It’s just a little too convenient to drop this now. And this is coming from someone who squints at almost everything when it comes to politics.

Yup. Somebody accidentally released it to the public before the 1st as was probably planned.  I’m...OK with her as choice - she’s definitely the most prepared to take over should something happen to Biden.  She could go toe to toe with other world leaders, including Putin.  She is also, however, a bit more polarizing in the eye of the public.  Not sure how swing voters will react.   
 

IF this is incorrect, I just hope it’s not Bottoms.  Don’t think she’s quite ready for the big leagues yet - she’d get run all over.  Plus I don’t want the campaign signs to say Biden Bottoms.
