Extremism breeds ineffectiveness and egotism. Moderation brings about cooperation and the ability to deal-make. The latter is far more successful in the long run. That’s why all of our President have been moderates. Obama, Bush, Clinton, Bush Sr, even really Trump is center-right (he supports fair trade and moderate regulation, endorsed marriage rights, has appointed 2 SCOTUS justices who have swung liberal on decisions). He’s far from the “extreme right” that is people like Ted Cruz or Rick Perry. Except that single payer healthcare has supposedly been a priority of the democratic party since JFK. Even Pelosi and Hillary Clinton supported it in the 90s until they received so much money from big pharma that they all of a sudden decided that single payer healthcare cost too much and could never pass.
