Biden’s VP pick is coming very soon... possibly in the next week or two. If you were tasked with picking the Vice Presidential nominee (with Biden’s current shortlist), who would you pick?

What we know:

-The VP nominee is going to be a woman.
-He wants this woman to have experience
-He wants this woman to be able to become President if needed.
-He wants someone who could potentially run in 2024
-He’s expressed interest in having a woman of color on the ticket. But it’s not a deal breaker.

If he picks Warren then Democrats lose a Senate seat for a few months

If he picks Tammy Baldwin then Democrats potentially lose a Senate seat for a full term

Stacey Abrams is a former state legislator and definitely not ready to be President if needed*

Gretchen Whitmer is white and I think Biden will pick a woc especially after the "you ain't black" mess (though not necessarily a black woman)

Susan Rice brings with her a lot of Benghazi baggage

Keisha Lance Bottoms is a mayor and a new one at that, so not really ready to take over on day one

Karen Bass is from a safely blue district and has led the way on BLM in Congress and police reform legislation

Michelle Lujan Grisham is a pretty good ideological fit for Biden and comes from an important electoral region

Tammy Duckworth has no baggage, is a military veteran, from the midwest, first person to give birth in office (a fun-fact type of thing that could show up in a campaign ad or debate), a proven debater (if not necessarily talker after tripping over her words re: George Washington statues) and someone who isn't going to try and take Biden's spotlight- in other words she'll dedicate herself fully to being his Vice

That's not necessarily my personal preference (they aren't being considered) but if I were him that's who I'd choose

*I think you need to have a high-level leadership position before you can be considered "ready on day one" but that leadership doesn't necessarily have to be political

This is a really good analysis. Tammy Duckworth has always seemed like a really bold choice. Idk if Biden’s campaign is bold enough to pick her. I would not be disappointed at all if she was picked.

Tammy Duckworth would be my prediction, for all of the reasons that JRCF laid out.

I do think that Sen. Warren is an ace political mind and analytical thinker, though, she would be fantastic.

REALITY

I'd love Duckworth, but I honestly think it's going to be Kamala Harris.

Warren was the best pick bc the Dems really need the left wing of the party to come out and vote but ofc she's not a POC so... :vegas:

My second choice would be Tammy Duckworth, even though I might be a bit biased since I am from IL.

Deep down I have a strong feeling it will be Kamala, which for a multitude of reasons I believe is a terrible pick, but I guess that quite literally fits the ticket :madge:

Kamala Harris or Warren, but I think he wants to get a POC so I'll vote Kamala.
