MADONNA'S FIRST ALBUM TURNS 37 🎉

Madonna (later re-titled as Madonna: The First Album) is the debut studio album by Madonna, released on July 27, 1983 by Sire Records. After having established herself as a singer in downtown New York City, Madonna was signed by Sire president Seymour Stein, due to the success of her debut single, "Everybody" (1982). She became the sole writer for most of the album's tracks, and chose Reggie Lucas as its primary producer. Unhappy with Lucas's production outputs, she invited John "Jellybean" Benitez to complete the album, who remixed three tracks and produced "Holiday".

In the United States, the album entered the Billboard 200 albums chart at number 190, the week of September 3, 1983. The album had a slow and steady climb, and peaked at eight on the Billboard 200 on the week ending October 20, 1984, more than a year after its release.

her worst, but good for her

It may sounds bad today but I think this album is a very nice one as for 1980s.

I can understand people not liking it but for me it’s one of my favourites, definitely top 5 and sometimes top 3, 2 or 1.

It’s a real time capsule of 1983; her attitude is punk, her look is new wave and her sound is post-disco. And all the tracks are killer dancefloor anthems.

Plus she looked like she was having the time of her life, unlike how serious she started taking herself and her reputation later on once she became a household name.
