This will be Taylor’s least commercially successful album yet

Yeah but this album has literally no hits on it, and she knows that I'm sure. I think this was just something for the fans that she was passionate about and working on during quarantine. Personally, I don't like it at all and was very bored so I won't be buying it but I've bought her other albums.

Her die-hard fans will buy it, and I'm sure that's all she expected tbh.

y'all will really bash a selling force for not outselling herself even if she outsells every other female :selena: @Stef really says it right about your importance being as good as your last piece of work

and i dont even like her music after 1989 :cyanlights:

What do you mean?

No one wants 8 versions of the same album with a different photo that you can just google?
:enigma:

Bye, we would die for 8 covers from Gaga.

I think it will be overlooked by the GP. The different versions are fun and a good way to sell, but it’ll only work with fans while stan twitter‘s getting ready to name it flopklore ...

Honestly I don’t think that really matters, at least for me. It’s clear with the sound of the album that she’s not aiming for hit pop songs on the radio, and the album has received glowing reviews from critics and from fans, so I’m sure a lot of people will want to check it out. I’m sure plenty of fans will want to buy all 8 deluxe covers, too. At the same time, I don’t believe physical albums are being sold in stores yet, but I could be wrong. If the sales aren’t as high as past albums, that doesn’t stop the album from being an absolute masterpiece.

I don’t like the song Cardigan but I do like the cardigan she wears in the video :awkney:

OT - Do people not get tired of saying this? 3 albums in a row?

What does it matter? She is finally doing whatever she wants having shrugged off the pressure of constantly being super skinny, constantly being in the press and constantly having to promote the sh*t out of her music to a point where she is comfortable releasing music at her own accord, with all censorship of her earlier career abandoned. I‘m pretty sure she values those new freedoms a lot more than a million sales which she already didnt have with Lover btw. And she is 15 years into her career like... you barely see artists being THIS relevant for this long. I am so happy she finally does what she likes and says what she wants.

if they push Exile it could be big I think. US really loves these types of AC / HAC duets between a male vocalist and female vocalist. Look at Say Something, Just Give Me A Reason, Shallow, Stay etc...i think it can be an album seller for her but yeah Cardigan is going to under perform for her standards to be honest.

She knows it’s not gonna be big commercially. That’s why she decided to release it like this in the first place.

Her commercial success is declining, and strategically this is the palette cleanser. Sales are short-term. This will establish her long-term as a genuine artist and might even grab AOTY.

I don't know why people are saying there are no potential hit singles on this album. The Last Great American Dynasty and Exile would beg to differ.

yup, but honestly you can tell she's more focused on the artistry of it this time, I don't think she's gonna release anymore singles after cardigan either

but she probably has an album of the year nomination on lock

I disagree. For someone like Taylor Swift who has IMMENSE backing both from the industry and the general public, an album like this thats a more stripped back approach will be welcomed with open arms from her supporters after 3 album cycles of pure pop releases, and the critical acclaim combined will all propel it to most likely be her most commercially successful era in awhile. I don't doubt that she might not dominate as she did with a track like Shake It Off or whatever but I think its clear that everyone that likes her or could like her sans-pop will embrace this record and therefore give it success. Thats all assuming that they continue to promote this era and dont treat it just as a side bar.

All that being said, I always find it funny when TS people act like shes anything other than pop. Even when she was country I thought she sounded pretty pop, at least with Red. Which ive come to find people dont consider pop. Im like uh.....anyway, whatever.
