Brecht 7
I really like some songs on Joanne but it’s a weak album. It’s more marketing than actual soul searching, intimate music.
COOOK 76,406
Read this too fast (“Why The Joanne Hat?”) and was about to read y’all to filth, but watching the appreciation towards the album is quite satisfactory - I’m so glad and lucky I found the last deluxe copy a month ago at my local store, after this lockdown they wouldn’t bring more copies to where I live... Guest
18 minutes ago, Haylan said: That's interesting to me, because I think a more generally chill, country peppered album is totally NOT safe or expected from Lady Gaga, and that is exactly why it sticks out from every other album. It is experimental for her in that sense, it also makes it incredibly unique. I think that most people who are Gaga fans like the dance and electro feel that every other album has besides Joanne. That's the genre they like her and signed up for. That's cool. It also means that many of those fans aren't into music like what much of Joanne offers. Personally, it's the most consistently listen-able album and it's really a matter of what you like. I love it ad think some of her best songs for her entire lifetime are on it, but I also know I like music like that. It was a pleasant surprise for me that she released something so different from her regular discography and I hope she does it again one day. I dont think Gaga was fully comitted to the sound change of the album, the change is mostly surface level. The album instrumentation is produced in a very clean tight regimented way that the wild and loose vibe of a rock or soul song is lost. And considering this is a singer song writing kind of album, we dont really get any interesting good lyrics. I actually dont like pop music that much, I love country rock songs. Which is why I did not like this album because its trying to be something its not.
BlondeQueenOfGGD 25,454
All the songs on Joanne are gems, and whenever people look back at her super bowl performance, Million Reasons will be the most vulnerable part of the biggest performance of her career. Joanne won.
LaLuna 12,732
I honestly don't get the hate. Going from electro-pop to a more folk/country sound apparently is a no-no, but someone like Taylor freaking Swift can switch genres with no problem and get even more popular. Is Joanne Gaga's best album? Probably not. But it's not a bad album by any stretch of the imagination.
God Control 2,181
I don’t hate it, but I can’t say I like many songs on it. I think only 3 songs are remotely appealing to me and I don’t even play them that often.
Pop Music 20,540
I love Joanne with my whole ass heart where ARTPOP reminds me of my hard middle school years (specifically 7th grade) (even if it is my fav album of all time) Joanne reminds me of a really good time in my HS (sophomore) life (before the next year everything went to **** and then repaired itself the year after) It was a time of hanging with my friends and just not having a care in the world and although my group of friends was small it was more than enough for me It was also such an important time in my Monster journey. I moved from just being a Twitter stan to GGD and now i love it here so much more and I got to go to my first ever gaga show after being a stan for 7 years at that point. When I look back on the album and the era all I think about is happiness and good times and my love for gaga and her work Pop Music and Lady Gaga forever! tyler k 5,330
because a big chunk of her fans only stan her for her dance-pop material honestly it's such a great album. it's not my favorite but I think it has some of her most open-hearted & honest songwriting. I adore Diamond Heart, John Wayne, Joanne, Perfect Illusion, Sinner's Prayer, & Grigio Girls. It's also definitely still a pop record tho mmmy name ~isn't~ aliceee

MessyTop 14,389
simple. Joanne wasn’t for the fans, it was for her dad. Joanne wasn’t fully realized. folklore was.
Lord Temptation 11,209
Because it’s Gaga saying a fat f*ck you to the people telling her what to do. Homegirl dared to dabble in Taylor’s territory and the bitch won a Grammy for it The first ten seconds of Diamond Heart alone is better than the entirety of “folklore”, an album that takes forever to get nowhere

Fresco 1,688
She had dabbled in country before. I like this version too. It actually raised the hair on my neck. (Maybe I played it too loud)
Doot 2
Because fans want her to do only electro-pop instead of actually evolving as an artist and expanding her discography and reaching new people.
