According to Google, rangoons were invented at a Polynesian restaurant called "Trader Vic's." This site has a lot of examples of various popular Chinese foods: https://www.chinasichuanfood.com But yes, it really depends on region. I know you've had hot pot though, and that's actually popular in China. She/Her/Hers

skaxboy 6,992
I always thought it went with the storyline of the store. That it was a trading outpost and that was an âimportâ from a different trader from that region. Thought it was silly but not with bad intentions.  I never realized how many they had! Trader Jose's (Mexican food) Trader Ming's (Chinese food) Baker Josef's (flour and bagels) Trader Giotto's (Italian food) Trader Joe-San (Japanese food) Arabian Joe's (Middle Eastern food) Pilgrim Joe's (New England specialties, like clam chowder) JosephsBrau (beer) Trader Johann's (lip balm) Trader Jacque's (French food and soaps) Joe's Diner (certain frozen entrees) Joe's Kids (children's food) Trader Darwin's (vitamins and health supplements).  Lets boycott Trader Giotto and change it to Trader Joanne Trattoria

This is some high school Senior hungry for attention because he doesnât get enough in class or at home.  If Trader JosĂŠ, a common Hispanic name, is so racist that you need to start a petition about I suggest you really take a hard look at the way you expend your time and energy. Don't Call Me Gaga

I feel it promotes the idea that all the people fighting for racial justice want are these "trivial" changes, when the end goal is much larger. Maybe my white privilege is clouding my thoughts on this, I don't know. But I think this energy needs to be focused more on dismantling the systems in place that promote racism before moving on to these smaller things.   3 hours ago, Franch Toast said: Honestly, I think this kind of stuff distracts from real racism. The only problem I ever had with their packaging is that Trader Ming's obviously should've been Trader Zhou's (Zhou is pronounced similar to "Joe"). I've been saying this too. Throwing around the racist narrative for every little trivial thing just ends up taking away from the actual issue  SJW culture I think is totally getting out of hand  I don't know the issues are real but so are overeactions

As if people are supposed to research the cultural history of every piece of food they put in their mouths. If Chinese restaurants and Mexican restaurants sell items that don't even originate from their respective countries, people are going to think that's where they came from.
