I still remember that night when she performed Sinner's Prayer live. :enigma: This was so long ago!

I cried for the first time to gaga when that happened :selena: I thought “wow, she’s actually going to release this amazing funky country song”

I love A-YO the way it is, except I would have loved a harmony on the chorus.

There was one at the Dive Bar tour, but on the album there’s only the melody and I missed that part.

I mean, maybe I'm in the minority, but I absolutely love A-Yo. It's in my top three for the album, so I love how it sounds.

My only complaint with that song is that the volume leveling is off compared to the rest of the album. I don't know if it's just Spotify or something, but I have to crank that song just to get it to match the rest of the songs on the album.

Same goes for Dancin’ in Circles and Perfect Illusion. The album wasn’t really mastered properly, IMO

Religion is a product to sell.

I think that was probably because they were working right up to the wire on the *entire* album. Juxtapose that to AP where she was basically just doing tracklisting in the final hours.

The thing with Gaga is that she’s always adding a pop polish to her music, which makes sense because she is a pop star, but idk, I wish she’d let things evolve the way they do without having to worry about pleasing pop fans and people who love that polished/commercial sound... people who just want “cute bops” :zilla: Especially when it comes to the acoustic/country rout, it’s really easy to over do it. Just compare Joanne to ASIB (which was meant more for a movie and less to fit her solo discography). Does that make sense?

Completely! That’s actually one of my favorite elements of C2C: the production feels very organic and, imo, much more so than a lot of other pop jazz albums that have come out in the 21st century (a la Michael Bublé). It feels like you’re in a tightly packed, swanky, loft bar listening to the music live and I LOVE that effect. I think one of the main pop elements that flops a bit on Joanne is that it’s a largely analog record that’s compressed like a digital album, which sucks some of the resonance out of the live instrumentation.

We have forgotten our public MANNERS

You mean the album where Ally's pop songs were originally in? No thank you. :billie:

It's not an "original version", it's just a few songs that she didn't keep. She also did songs with Diane Warren for Joanne in 2016 and she didn't keep them, it doesn't mean that the concept has changed.

First of all the 8 RedOne songs include Angel Down. There's just 7 songs left. Secondly, the concept really hasn't changed. Gaga described the album as her going back to her roots, erasing the fame back in 2014, and her operating the cadaver of her old self. She described Joanne with very similar words in FF2. (shot in 2016). Also, when GUY premiered on the Today Show, Gaga kinda teased that she could possibly do a more stripped down album next

Also, in nearly every picture she took with RedOne in 2015, the Joanne look is already there, and she's on the piano while he's on the guitar

The album version doesn't have Hillary Lindsey singing back-up like she does on Million Reasons, that's the problem with the album version. She did for the Dive Bar Tour, but not the album.
